The Senior Technical Lead Engineer is a senior level technical contributor as well as an effective leader of a development team working on J2EE applications. The Senior Technical Lead Engineer shares responsibility (with the Project Manager Technical Architect etc.) for coordinating and monitoring all aspects of the software development lifecycle across multiple technology platforms and disciplines. The Senior Technical Lead Engineer also provides technical support and mentoring to project team members.

The Senior Technical Lead Engineer is a senior level technical contributor as well as an effective leader of a development team working on J2EE applications. The Senior Technical Lead Engineer shares responsibility (with the Project Manager Technical Architect etc.) for coordinating and monitoring all aspects of the software development lifecycle across multiple technology platforms and disciplines. The Senior Technical Lead Engineer also provides technical support and mentoring to project team members.
Essential Functions:
Technical Functions
- Research design and develop J2EE applications. Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
- Consult with technical staff to evaluate both the integration between hardware and software and the operational and performance requirements of overall systems
- Develop and direct software system technical design procedures programming technical testing and documentation
- Work with functional architecture and quality assurance teams to review documentation address issues and support those roles within the development lifecycle
- Create technical design documentation for software changes and development
- Create technical documents and presents to appropriate audience
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues
- Consult with customers concerning the technical design and development of software applications and modifications
- Maintain and enhance software applications and makes necessary modifications. This includes configuration management responsibility for software development and customizations
- Ability to analyze design and document system implementation extension and follow best practices for design and deployment
- Coordinate and monitor all technical aspects of SDLC
Lead/Other Functions
- Contribute to the development activities such as project estimates scheduling and deliverables
- Conduct code reviews for system modifications and development
- Coach mentor and provide guidance and expertise to direct reports
- Effective technical leader
- Coach and mentor technical leads
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external teams on projects
- Ability to collaborate with or provide oversight to an offshore team to complete project deliverables
- Ability to communicate with the clients technical staff other project leads and the project manager to deliver results
- Ability to communicate with the technical team and functional team
- Serve as the DD for 2 or more clients
- Basic understanding of retail operations and how packaged software works within this industry
- Coordinate the efforts of other developers by assigning and reviewing development work
- Consult and estimates work effort
- Establish/maintain effective team communications to ensure client needs are met
- Keep delivery team apprised of work progress and is proactive in communicating any concerns or opportunities for better project delivery
- May perform other job-related duties as assigned

- Present attend and participate in BTM meetings and training opportunities as required

Education Experience and Other Skills:
- Bachelors Degree or higher
- 7-8 years experience in J2EE software design and/or development
- Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and Development
- Experience designing developing and delivering custom software solutions
- Experience preferred with the following:
- Working with distributed team
- Leading a development team
- Design /development on Spring
- Working with relational databases
- Working with Web Services
- Working with Application Servers preferably WebLogic Jetty Jboss
- Unix Shell Scripting Windows Scripting
- Scheduling tools UC4 Cron Autosys
- RDBS (e.g. Oracle)
- Experience with OS (Windows/Linux)
- Experience with OOO Programming concept
- Intermediate to advance understanding of hardware
- Retail industry and/or Oracle Retail/ MOM knowledge is a plus
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies
- Strong understanding or retail operations
- Ability to learn and leverage new frameworks
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to accommodate offshore team and client needs
- Ability to clearly communicate design rationales and build consensus around designs
- Ability to develop innovative approaches to complex design problems
- Strong desire for ownership of assigned tasks
