Job Summary
This position is with the U. S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) within the Directorate of Cooperative and State Programs (DCSP) located in Washington D.C.
- This position is at the full performance level.
- This position is outside the bargaining unit.
- This position is NOT remote. Selectee will be expected to report to the office listed above.
Duties of the Senior Technical Advisor position include but are not limited to the following:
- Providing technical expertise and leadership within the directorate for planning development management and evaluation of a wide range of administrative and management initiatives and functions.
- Designing and developing transformational cutting-edge initiatives aligned with OSHA and DCSP policies and external stakeholder needs.
- Developing evaluation reports proposed policy changes and recommended courses of action that often have agency and nation-wide impact and significance.
- Establishing and maintaining guidance and cooperative assistance with OSHAs external stakeholders (State Plans alliances partnerships international partners).
- Conducting extensive fact-finding and project planning for major studies and nationwide program initiatives.
- Developing evaluation reports proposed changes and recommended courses of action that often have agency and nation-wide impact and significance.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.

Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) to perform the duties of the position successfully and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-14 in the Federal Service.
Qualifying specialized experience for the GS-15 includes:
- Applying knowledge of the federal regulatory process including safety and occupational health laws and regulations to develop policies and other program documents.
- Assisting in the technical development/review of existing and new directives grant and cooperative agreements standards or other guidance documents.
- Providing technical leadership for planning development management and/or evaluation of a wide range of administrative and management initiatives and functions.
