Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting of an assigned division. This role supports project managers and operational leadership by ensuring accurate financial records timely reporting proper job cost tracking compliance with internal controls and strong financial insight. The ideal candidate is detail oriented deadline-driven and comfortable operating in a fast-paced project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting
o Prepare and maintain general ledger entries reconciliations accruals and month-end
close activities.
o Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable related to the assigned division.
o Reconcile bank accounts inventory and various other balance sheet accounts.
Project Accounting & Job Costing
o Monitor job costs labor equipment usage subcontractor invoices and material
charges.
o Review and validate project billings with a focus on time and materials.
o Monitor project costs to job quotes to monitor for completeness and accuracy.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
o Prepare monthly divisional financial statements variance analyses and management
reporting packages.
o Track KPIs and operational metrics relevant to the division.
Compliance Controls & Audit Support
o Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies GAAP and regulatory
requirements.
o Assist with internal and external audit requests.
Cross-Functional Support
o Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for the assigned division.
o Provide financial support and guidance to field management operations and
administrative staff.
o Contribute to process improvements and technology upgrades to drive efficiency.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required.
3-5 years of accounting experience; construction or project-based accounting strongly preferred.
1-2 years of experience with job cost accounting systems Sage Intacct preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes.
Experience with construction billing methods.
Mental Demands/ Physical Demands/ Environmental Factors
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional lifting and carrying (15 pounds)
Environment: Possible districtwide travel or statewide travel with potential exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures dust noise vibration and chemical and electrical hazards
