WBUR Podcasts reaches millions of listeners across the country and the world. Our premier always-on shows and prestige limited series deliver award-winning educational innovative bold storytelling aimed at creating new generations of public media consumers. Our journalism is accurate in-depth and beyond influence. We feature diverse authentic voices on subjects that matter to them in a style that speaks to them. Our work fascinates listeners encourages them to engage one another and helps them understand the world theyve inherited. As a Senior Producer on the WBUR Podcasts team you will help to lead our departments creative work from producing and voicing our show Endless Thread to developing piloting and launching new shows and limited series for the station. You will work with a collaborative generous hard-working team of talented producers and sound designers and also lend your production skills and your keen ear to our group-driven process of creating innovative and arresting audio on deadline. You will research fascinating topics pitch episodes and limited series book guests deliver tracking on mic and on video write sticky catchy episode titles and punchy scripts. You will help WBUR create work that is hand-made even as you hone new ways to use AI tools to sharpen the craft. You will be at the center of WBURs mission of fostering understanding connection and community for an expanding circle of people.

Were seeking someone who is brimming with ideas open to creative ventures and able to work with non-audio-trained journalists to help guide them in the finer points of how to tell a great audio story.

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent/relevant experience and a minimum of 5 years of experience required.
  • Significant planning skills and project management skills ability to develop and execute long-range editorial projects with multiple stakeholders and moving parts.
  • Proven track record as a team player showcasing creativity collegiality independence and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of the audio storytelling/podcast market and platforms.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit; willingness to embrace uncertainty and lack of definition as opportunities evolve.
  • Professional-level understanding of audio editing tools such as Adobe.
  • Audition or Pro Tools and proficiency in transcription tools like Descript and video editing tools like Adobe Premiere and Riverside. Ability to meet deadlines manage tasks effectively and multitask in a high-pressure environment.
  • Active mentor who invests in the growth and development of junior producers.
