Our Federal group is looking for a Senior Process Engineer to support our growing work in the DOE and DOD. This position requires an experienced and competent individual capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques procedures and criteria. The candidate must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. The position may require travel to support projects estimated at 25%.

• Have experience with nuclear system design working with Safety Class or Safety Significant systems and working under a NQA-1 program or have experience with energetics or explosives system design (synthesis handling mixing and charging)
• Have experience applying nuclear chemical or explosive-safety requirements into designs
• Have experience in project execution from initial process studies support of project cost estimates through detailed design into EPC project execution
• Have a clear understanding of the steps of project development (e.g. front-end engineering design) and level of detail required in each step of project development
• Independently develop PFDs P&IDs complete equipment sizing and specifications develop instrument process data and specifications
• Demonstrate leadership ability at the discipline level on a multidiscipline project team
• Develop process models with commercially available programs (Aspen Hysys ChemCAD) or by building custom models in Excel
• Support business development efforts by developing engineering estimates and supporting proposal development
• Coordinate with and guide junior staff providing mentorship responsibilities as a senior-level team member

• Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Strong knowledge of process design codes (ASME ANSI API PIP NACE)
• Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members; ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills; ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
• Strong attention to detail facilitation team building collaboration organization and problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
• Ability to travel
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoE or DoD Security Clearance

• Strong computer skills including process simulation software (i.e. Hysys and/or Aspen HTRI)
• EPC project experience
• Prior work in NQA-1 environments
• Experience with glovebox design
• Experience with nuclear fuel processing facilities
• Exposure to HALEU (High-Assay Low-Enriched Uranium)

• Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years of process engineering experience Required OR
• Bachelors Degree in Chemical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years of process engineering experience Required OR
• Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering and 6 years of process engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred

• 7 years of process engineering experience (with Bachelors Degree path) or 6 years (with Masters Degree path)

• Position may require travel to support projects estimated at approximately 25%
• Role may be extended or converted to a full-time employee (FTE) for the right candidate

• Security Clearance is not required at the start of the engagement; however the candidate must be eligible and able to obtain a DoE or DoD Security Clearance if required based on project requirements
