Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Piping Designer to lead piping design and drafting efforts on projects of varying size and complexity. This role requires a highly experienced professional who can work independently with minimal supervision while delivering highâquality 2D and 3D designs including the effective use of 3D scan data. The Senior Piping Designer serves as a technical resource and checker provides guidance to other designers and drafters and collaborates closely with engineering leads and project managers to ensure quality schedule and budget objectives are met. Strong technical expertise leadership capability and proactive communication are essential to success in this role.

Compensation: $50 per hour/-

Work Arrangement:
  • Monday through Thursday onsite at the refinery
  • Fridays remote/work from home
  • Standard 5x8 work schedule
  • Located in Blaine Washington

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review piping layouts isometrics and support details using CAD tools (e.g. CADWorx).
  • Interpret and apply P&IDs plot plans tie-in lists and piping specifications.
  • Lead design efforts for greenfield and brownfield projects in oil & gas mining food & beverage and power sectors.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to resolve design issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Provide on-site support during construction phases including troubleshooting and design adjustments.
  • Mentor junior designers and manage small to mid-sized design teams (112 designers).
  • Utilize 3D laser scanning for accurate modeling and tie-in planning.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience: 6 years in Piping Design
  • Education: Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design or equivalent technical training
  • Skills:
    • Ability to coordinate with other disciplines and project management in a team environment.
    • Coordinate with vendors and clients.
    • Manage budgets and schedules.
    • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Bluebeam.
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD CADWorx Navisworks.
  • Technical Competence:
    • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
    • Experience performing field assignments including gathering dimensional data and photographic documentation.
    • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes standards and design practices.
    • Experience generating piping isometrics and material takeâoffs (MTOs).
    • Familiarity with integrating and utilizing 3D laser scan data within a CAD environment.
    • Proven experience leading interdisciplinary model reviews with internal design teams.
    • Experience facilitating and leading model reviews with clients.
  • Collaboration: Ability to form and foster collaborative relationships within Eichleay and with clients and partners.
  • Travel: Travel to local clients will be required and can be at least one day per week for meetings. Travel outside the area is expected to be minimal less than 10%
  • Industry Requirements: This role will require all or some of the following requirements at time of hire or during employment
    • HHFT Safety Training and current card or ability to obtain.
    • Client Safety Training and current badge or ability to obtain.
    • TWIC Certification and current card or ability to obtain. TWIC card must be obtained prior to start date or start date may need to be adjusted.
    • Background screening including previous employment education criminal history and driving record verification.
    • Participation in random drug and alcohol programs.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Experience inputting and managing piping specifications within the CADWorx environment.
  • Knowledge of creating configuring and modifying Isogen borders and setup files.
  • Experience performing 3D laser scanning activities in the field.
  • Proficiency with CADWorx Equipment and CADWorx Support Modeler.
  • Experience using Autodesk Vault for document and model management.
  • Experience collaborating with and coordinating work performed by highâvalue engineering centers located in other countries.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision distance vision depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays and weekends.
  • Job duties will be performed at a client site production facility or industrial/construction job site.
  • Conditions and/or schedule may vary but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
