We are hiring a senior-level Packaging Engineer to lead the design validation and implementation of packaging solutions for HVAC coils. This role is critical to enabling damage-free transportation by engineering packaging solutions that withstand real-world handling cross-docking forklift interaction vibration and edge impact. The engineer will serve as the primary authority for solving packaging-related freight damage and establishing scalable packaging standards.
LOCATION: On-site Richardson TX. Must be able to Travel 50% domestic plus Mexico
Key Responsibilities
Design and engineer custom crating skids frames and internal restraint systems
Develop packaging designs capable of surviving LTL cross-docking transportation environments
Serve as the lead problem solver for packaging-related freight damage using data field observations and root cause analysis
Translate damage failure modes into engineered corrective actions
Define packaging load paths blocking and bracing strategies base protection and forklift entry requirements
Create packaging standards material specifications and build instructions
Ensure packaging designs are repeatable scalable and suitable for internal execution
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external resources
Support pilot builds field validation and phased rollout of new packaging solutions
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering or related technical discipline
5 years of experience in packaging engineering transport packaging or heavy-duty industrial packaging
Demonstrated experience designing packaging for oversized heavy or fragile products
Hands-on experience engineering packaging for LTL or multi-touch transportation networks
Strong understanding of load paths restraint systems shock vibration and edge impact risks
Ability to translate field failures into engineered scalable solutions
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification such as Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) or Packaging Dynamics Professional (ISTA PDP) strongly preferred.
Experience packaging HVAC components coils or similar industrial assemblies
Work Arrangement
On-site presence at the Richardson TX office. Must be able to travel 50% to domestic manufacturing locations as well as Mexico.
