Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a highly motivated former senior military officer with strong research analytical and writing ability for a challenging position supporting the Joint Staff Force Structure Resources and Assessment Directorate (J8).


This position is in support of the Support Agency Review and Assessment Office (SARAO). Under Title 10 Section 193 United States Code the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff (CJCS) is tasked to biennially assess the readiness and responsiveness of the Combat Support Agencies (CSAs) to support the operating forces and review the plans of those agencies in support of the forces. Contractor personnel within SARAO provide the organizational/technical skills necessary to coordinate the activities the Combat Support Agency Review Team (CSART) that performs these biennial CSA assessments. These assessments are a constructive and collaborative process designed to optimize the combat support effectiveness of each CSA.

Responsibilities
  • Synthesize national strategic documents (National Military Strategy National Defense Strategy etc.) and understand how these documents guide strategic and operational plans.
  • Lead the design plan and strategic approach of each CSA assessment.
  • Develop technical reports/briefings studies and related documents many of which will be viewed by senior DoW leadership.
  • Coordinate meetings and interviews and to negotiate resolution of differences between OSW Joint Staff Combatant Commands Military Services and Combat Support Agencies.
  • Travel to Combatant Commands and other organizations to conduct interviews.
Qualifications
  • Current Top Secret (TS) Clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within the last 5 years.
    Masters degree from an accredited college or university or BA/BS degree with completion of Joint Professional Military Education Program.
  • 10 years of experience with at least 4 years of management level responsibility.
  • Must have the ability to synthesize national strategic documents (National Military Strategy National Defense Strategy etc.) and understand how these documents guide strategic operational plans.
  • Must be able to lead the design plan and strategic approach of each CSA assessment.
  • Must be able to establish credibility through familiarization with the U.S. Code as well as DoW and CJCS policy doctrine and guidance to tactfully brief advise or respond to queries from senior leaders ( GO/FO/SES).
  • Must be able to . proficient in DoW enterprise applications including: Microsoft 365 suite (including Excel Word PowerPoint and Teams)Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (ETMS2) Defense Readiness Reporting System (DRRS) Joint Training Tool (JTT) Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS) Knowledge Management and Decision Support (KM/DS) information system ADVANA Donovan AI and other enterprise information systems.
  • Must have superior research analytical and writing abilities to be able to interpret synthesize and present results and recommendations via detailed written reports to senior military and civilian decision makers.
  • Must be ready to travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations in support of CSART interviews at the Combatant Command and Service components as necessary.
  • Military experience required with a working knowledge of the Joint Force (military doctrine planning and operational employment of forces and combat service support).
  • Must be capable of leading and managing interdisciplinary assessment teams.
  • Staff experience at the OSW or Joint Staff level is required.
Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $175000.00/Yr. - USD $195000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
