Job Summary
MASS Tech is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.
This position will support mechanical product design product rationalization prototyping validation cost optimization and manufacturing release. The engineer will work with cross-functional and offshore teams to develop reliable manufacturable and cost-effective mechanical solutions.
- Evaluate existing mechanical products and identify design improvements.
- Create 3D parts assemblies component specifications and manufacturing drawings.
- Develop prototype concepts and coordinate prototype builds and testing.
- Use SolidWorks and Creo for product design and documentation.
- Create drawings with GD&T welding symbols specifications and manufacturing notes.
- Perform tolerance stack-up design calculations and FEA.
- Design machined molded cast welded and sheet-metal components.
- Support cost estimation supplier reviews and component negotiations.
- Create part masters product structures and multi-level configurators.
- Release models and drawings through PDM ECR and ECN processes.
- Coordinate engineering activities with cross-functional and offshore teams.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Five or more years of mechanical product-design and development experience.
- Strong experience with Creo or Pro/ENGINEER and SolidWorks.
- Experience creating manufacturing drawings and applying GD&T.
- Knowledge of tolerance analysis FEA and design-to-cost principles.
- Experience with machining injection molding casting or sheet-metal design.
- Experience with SolidWorks PDM or a similar PLM system is preferred.
- Knowledge of DFx FMEA DOE or root-cause analysis is a plus.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.

Required Skills:
Bachelors degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Five or more years of experience in mechanical product design development and implementation. Strong solid-modeling experience using Pro/ENGINEER or Creo. Experience using SolidWorks for 3D modeling assemblies drawings and design simulation. Experience creating manufacturing drawings with GD&T welding symbols specifications and production notes. Experience conducting tolerance analysis and stack-up analysis. Demonstrated experience managing product cost-reduction and design-improvement projects. Knowledge of mechanical design calculations FEA should-cost analysis and design-to-cost principles. Experience working with suppliers manufacturing teams procurement teams and prototype laboratories. Experience managing part masters product structures engineering documentation and ECN releases. Strong problem-solving project coordination presentation and communication skills. Ability to coordinate deliverables across onsite and offshore engineering teams. Nice to Have Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Experience with SolidWorks PDM or a similar product lifecycle management system. Experience with Design for Manufacturability DFx FMEA DOE and root-cause analysis. Experience designing machined injection-molded cast welded and sheet-metal components. Knowledge of circuit-board packaging or PCB layout considerations. Experience developing multi-level product configurators.
