About the Role

The Senior Manager Tax Accounting is responsible for supporting the companys U.S. tax accounting function including the preparation and review of income tax provisions tax-related financial reporting and compliance with ASC 740 requirements. This role plays an important part in ensuring accurate tax accounting supporting financial statement disclosures and maintaining compliance with applicable tax regulations.

Partnering closely with Accounting FP&A Treasury Legal and external advisors the Manager will contribute to tax planning initiatives support audits and regulatory inquiries and help drive continuous improvement across tax processes controls and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions under ASC 740 including effective tax rate analyses deferred tax calculations and supporting tax-related financial statement disclosures.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting and SEC Reporting teams to ensure accurate reporting of tax balances tax expense and related disclosures in financial statements.
  • Support U.S. federal state and local income tax compliance activities by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure timely and accurate filings.
  • Research and analyze tax accounting matters changes in tax regulations and business transactions to assess financial reporting impacts and support technical accounting conclusions.
  • Support the maintenance of effective internal controls over tax accounting and reporting processes including compliance with SOX requirements and documentation standards.
  • Assist with tax audits examinations and information requests from external auditors and tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with Accounting Treasury FP&A Legal and other stakeholders to provide tax-related guidance and support business initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance tax processes reporting accuracy automation and operational efficiency.
  • Support the management of relationships with external tax advisors auditors and service providers.
  • Participate in special projects tax planning initiatives and other tax-related matters as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Taxation or a related field.
  • 8 years of progressive tax accounting financial reporting or related experience.
  • Experience supporting income tax accounting under ASC 740.
  • Experience working with U.S. federal and state income tax compliance processes.
  • Experience supporting audits financial reporting or tax-related compliance activities.
  • CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.

Technical & Leadership Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. corporate income tax principles.
  • Understanding of tax provision processes deferred taxes effective tax rate calculations and tax-related financial reporting requirements.
  • Ability to research and analyze tax and accounting issues and develop practical recommendations.
  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex tax matters to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting or tax-related systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public accounting experience preferably with a Big Four or national accounting firm.
  • Experience supporting a publicly traded company and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls related to tax accounting and reporting.
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvements automation initiatives or tax technology enhancements.

The ideal candidate will be located in the Houston TX or greater Washington D.C.-Baltimore area.
