Senior Lease & Fixed Asset Accountant

Position SummaryThe Senior Lease & Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of lease accounting and fixed asset management in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) with primary responsibility for compliance with IFRS 16. This role ensures accurate financial reporting effective internal controls and efficient processes for the recognition measurement tracking and reporting of the Companys leased and owned assets including construction equipment facilities fleet and rented assets deployed to project position serves as the subject matter expert for lease accounting fixed assets capital expenditure reporting and equipment financing activities. The Senior Lease & Fixed Asset Accountant partners closely with Regional Finance General Accounting Treasury Equipment Operations Financial Reporting and other corporate and operational stakeholders to support strategic business decisions maintain compliance with accounting standards and strengthen financial governance across the ResponsibilitiesLease Accounting & IFRS ComplianceOversee all aspects of lease accounting in accordance with IFRS 16 including identification classification recognition measurement and disclosure requirements. Maintain and administer the Companys lease accounting model ensuring the completeness and accuracy of data related to right-of-use (ROU) assets lease liabilities discount rates and related disclosures. Research analyze and document lease modifications renewals reassessments terminations and variable lease arrangements to ensure appropriate accounting treatment. Evaluate new contracts and agreements to determine whether they contain leases and assess accounting implications. Ensure lease terms and contractual obligations are accurately captured and reflected in accounting records. Prepare monthly lease accounting journal entries reconciliations depreciation schedules interest calculations and remeasurement adjustments. Prepare quarterly and annual lease accounting disclosures and support statutory and management reporting requirements. Monitor emerging IFRS guidance and corporate policies affecting lease accounting and recommend implementation strategies as Asset & Capital Asset ManagementOversee the fixed asset accounting process including asset capitalization depreciation transfers impairments retirements and disposals and ensure proper asset classification useful lives and depreciation work-in-progress (WIP) accounting activities and ensure timely capitalization of completed supporting documentation for capital expenditures to ensure compliance with capitalization policies and accounting periodic fixed asset inventories and asset verification accurate tracking and reporting of company-owned equipment and assets utilized in operations and Financing & Lease AcquisitionAct as the accounting liaison for leased equipment acquisitions financed through the Companys equipment with Equipment Operations Treasury and business leaders to evaluate proposed equipment acquisitions and financing lease inception data financing terms and supporting documentation are properly captured and incorporated into lease accounting equipment strategy discussions acquisition planning and financing initiatives by providing accounting guidance and financial administrative processes associated with regional equipment business units lease and asset management Planning Forecasting & Financial AnalysisManage corporate capital expenditure (CAPEX) reporting including consolidation and review of proposed capital budgets submitted by operating compliance with Group reporting requirements and monitor capital spending against approved authorization the annual budget forecast and long-range planning processes related to leased and owned lease and fixed asset forecasting activities within PBCS including depreciation lease liability interest expense capital expenditures and cash flow and administer the Companys SmartSheet tracker of all asset acquisitions and and maintain forecasting models and analytical tools to improve planning accuracy and support leadership variance analyses and management reporting related to asset utilization lease obligations and Reporting Controls & Compliance Maintain strong internal controls over lease and fixed asset accounting processes ensuring complete audit trails and supporting and enhance policies procedures and process documentation related to asset management and lease internal and external audits by preparing schedules documentation reconciliations and technical accounting compliance with company accounting policies IFRS requirements and internal control opportunities for process automation and continuous improvement to increase efficiency and reporting Partnership & Leadership Serve as the primary accounting resource for lease accounting and fixed asset matters across the with Treasury Financial Reporting Tax Equipment Operations Procurement and Regional Finance teams to resolve complex accounting and reporting in regional equipment management meetings strategy discussions and operational and provide technical guidance to accounting team members regarding lease accounting fixed asset accounting and related accounting special projects system implementations and process improvement initiatives as assigned. Build effective relationships with internal customers that reflect and support company core values. Provide responsive and professional support to finance leadership operational teams and other stakeholders. Process Improvement & Technology Utilize financial systems and reporting tools to efficiently gather and analyze data for external opportunities to improve financial reporting processes strengthen internal controls and increase seek opportunities to improve service tools reporting and department and assist in the implementation of finance transformation initiatives reporting enhancements and system in cross-functional projects supporting strategic business objectives.
