Senior JAVA Developer
Security Clearance - Secret
US-PA-Philadelphia

Responsibilities
Noblis MSD is seeking aSenior Java Developerto support a large-scale software project for U.S. Navy programs. This is an onsite position based at the Philadelphia Navy Yard.
Noblis MSD supports Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) by providing engineering software development systems integration cybersecurity logistics and life-cycle support to Navy programs.
The Senior Java Developer will work as part of a software development team to design develop maintain test and support Java-based applications. The ideal candidate has experience working with large software codebases helping improve existing applications and supporting other developers through collaboration code reviews and technical guidance. Other languages include Gradle bash python structured text and ladder logic.

Responsibilities:

Design develop maintain and enhance Java software applications
Support software development troubleshooting testing integration and release activities
Work with large existing Java codebases and help improve maintainability over time
Review understand and update existing software as needed
Support modernization refactoring and performance improvement efforts
Participate in code reviews and help promote good software development practices
Support build deployment and release activities using tools such as GitLab Jira SonarQube or similar platforms
Assist with troubleshooting software issues identified during development integration testing or field support
Help mentor or guide other developers when needed
Collaborate with software developers testers engineers cybersecurity personnel and program stakeholders
Support technical documentation such as design notes release notes installation instructions and user/support guidance
Communicate status blockers risks and technical issues clearly and professionally

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Software Engineering Information Systems or a relevant technical discipline
8 years of experience developing software using Java
Experience working with large or multi-module Java applications
Experience maintaining troubleshooting or refactoring existing Java codebases
Strong understanding of object-oriented design and software development best practices
Experience with Java 17 or later
Familiarity with Java modernization concepts such as records enhanced switch modularity dependency management or related language/platform improvements
Experience with version control tools such as Git or GitLab
Experience using issue tracking tools such as Jira or similar platforms
Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as GitLab CI/CD or similar platforms
Familiarity with code quality tools such as SonarQube or similar platforms
Ability to work in a Linux environment
Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with people at varying technical levels
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Desired Qualifications

Masters degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Software Engineering Information Systems or a relevant technical discipline
Experience supporting modernization or refactoring of large Java applications
Experience with Java platform migrations
Experience with Bash scripting or general automation scripting
Experience with Docker containers or RHEL 8/9 environments
Familiarity with JGroups or distributed Java applications
Experience helping guide mentor or support other developers
Experience supporting software integration and formal test events
Experience writing clear technical documentation including design notes release notes and installation guidance
Experience working on DoD Navy or other government software programs
CompTIA Security Linux certification Oracle Java certification or similar certifications are a plus

USD $120700.00 - USD $188725.00 /Yr.
