Job Summary

Summary

Duties

Develops and implements IT strategies aligned with organizational goals ensuring effective execution across specialized IT domains. Leads diverse IT teams fostering professional growth collaboration and excellence in specialized areas such as UX product development software development business partners quality assurance COTS development and vendor management. Champions the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies and best practices to drive innovation and improve service delivery and product development. Builds and maintains strong relationships with business partners customers and vendors ensuring IT strategies and projects align with stakeholder needs and expectations. Oversees the operational aspects of the IT department ensuring efficient resource allocation process optimization and delivery of high-quality IT services and products. Manages budgeting financial forecasting and resource allocation to ensure projects are delivered within budget and contribute to the financial objectives of the organization. Other duties as assigned.

    • BS degree in computer science electrical engineering telecommunications or a related field.
    • Strong knowledge of networking technologies (TCP/IP DNSDHCP SNMP etc.).
    • Experience with Cisco DWDM Optical platform.
    • Experience with Cisco data networking technologies and products.
    • Good command of Cisco CLI.
    • Strong understanding of Quality of Service (QoS) implementation in a Cisco centric enterprise network.
    • Experience managing Cisco firewalls VPNs and network security tools.
    • Strong knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications architecture and components such as Cisco CUCM IM&P Expressways Session border controllers and other UC applications.
    • Strong knowledge of voice signaling media protocols and troubleshooting.
    • Cisco CCNP level knowledge or higher.
    • Solid understanding of routing protocols including EIGRP BGP and OSPF.
    • Experience with enterprise networking equipment and tools (e.g. F5 Infoblox NetScout Oracle).
    • Experience with cloud networking (AWS Azure or Google Cloud).
    • Knowledge of network automation tools and scripting (Python Ansible)
    • Experience in a large or complex network environment.
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

    Required Work Experience

    • At least eight years of experience in systems supportdevelopment or applications development withat least 4 years of experience in a leadership role withinan IT environment demonstrating proficiency inmanaging supervising and developing professional andtechnical teams.

    Working Conditions

    • Sedentary.
    • Since this position requires onsite presence insupport of the U.S. Senate when in session thisposition requires the employee to be available andprepared to work during government lapse in appropriations ininclement weather on holidays and during latenight overnight and weekend thecontext of government furloughs this position isconsidered excepted.
    • This position directly supports essential services ofthe U.S. Senate. As such this position requires theemployee be available and prepared to work during a government lapse in appropriations in inclement weather onholidays weekends and during late nights to ensureessential services to the Senate continue the context of governmentfurloughs this position is considered excepted.
    • The U.S. Senate network cannot be taken offline formaintenance during the workday or while theSenate is in session. As such maintenance windowsmay only occur at night on weekends andoccasionally on holidays. Employees who performsystems upgrades maintenance wiring backupssupport our alternate data centers will haveschedules that include working nights weekendsand holidays.
    • To meet the needs of the U.S. Senate the person in this position will be required to work extendedhours outside normal business hours whichincludes but may not be limited to holidays andweekends as necessary.
    • To meet the needs of the U.S. Senate the person inthis position will be required to be on call or reporton-site on a rotation within 24 hours.

    Security Clearance

    • This position requires that the applicant obtain and maintain a SecretU.S. Government security clearance.
    • Applicants must be U.S. citizens in order for the SAA to submit your application for a security clearance.
    Education

    High School Diploma/ GED.
