This is more than a traditional maintenance roleits an opportunity to become the technical expert who keeps our manufacturing operation running at peak youre a hands-on problem solver with advanced mechanical skills welding and machining expertise and experience with industrial utility systems we want to hear from this role youll design solutions fabricate custom components troubleshoot complex equipment and serve as a trusted technical resource for the maintenance Youll DoAs our Senior Industrial Maintenance & Fabrication Technician you will:Serve as the subject matter expert for plant utility systems including steam boilers chillers and hot oil systemsDiagnose and resolve complex mechanical and system-level equipment failuresDesign and fabricate custom parts tools and equipment improvementsPerform advanced welding on aluminum steel and a variety of other metalsOperate machine shop equipment including lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision componentsRebuild motors pumps and mechanical assembliesPerform precision alignment and shimming of equipment to maximize reliabilityMonitor boiler chemistry and optimize system performanceSupport preventive and predictive maintenance initiativesCollaborate with operations maintenance engineering and other site teams on equipment improvements and capital projectsMaintain a safe organized and high-quality work environmentWhat Makes This Role DifferentThis position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating solutionsnot just repairing have the opportunity to:Solve complex technical challengesBuild custom equipment and componentsPlay a critical role in maintaining plant infrastructureServe as a technical leader within the maintenance organizationWhat Were Looking ForRequired QualificationsAdvanced welding experience (aluminum steel and multiple metals)High-level machining and fabrication skillsStrong mechanical troubleshooting abilitiesExperience diagnosing and repairing complex industrial equipmentWorking knowledge of boilers chillers and hot oil systemsKnowledge of industrial boiler chemistryExperience with precision alignment and equipment setupAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematicsSelf-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountabilityPreferred QualificationsBoiler Operator Certification or equivalent experienceMinimum of five (5) years of experience operating or maintaining industrial boiler systemsFormal training in welding machining or mechanical systemsMinimum of five (5) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environmentPhysical RequirementsAbility to safely work in an industrial manufacturing environmentAbility to stand walk bend kneel climb stairs and ladders and work in confined spacesAbility to work at heights using ladders and elevated platformsManual dexterity required for welding machining and operating hand and power toolsAbility to perform repetitive motions including gripping reaching and twistingAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes safety glasses and hearing protectionWhy AstenJohnsonAt AstenJohnson youll join a team committed to safety innovation and continuous improvement.
