Position Specific Description

Florida Power & Light Company is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support environmental compliance activities associated with the Turkey Point Clean Energy Center with a primary focus on management of the Everglades Mitigation Bank and related environmental programs.

This role will support the Environmental Services Project Manager by coordinating mitigation bank activities vegetation management activities environmentalmonitoring contractor work scopes compliance tracking mitigation bank credit sale management and execution data management and review and regulatory reporting support. The position will work closely with environmental specialists contractors laboratories field teams and internal subject matter experts to help ensure work is completed accurately on schedule and in accordance with applicable county state and federal requirements.

While field support may be required the position will be focused on planning coordination documentation schedule management contractor oversight compliance tracking reporting and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support execution of mitigation bank credit sales including coordination of sale-related documentation internal reviews tracking requirements stakeholder follow-up and completion of required administrative steps.

  • Coordinate and support Everglades Mitigation Bank management activities including monitoring schedules contractor activities field documentation compliance tracking data organization and regulatory reporting support.

  • Support vegetation management within the mitigation bank and Cooling Canal System including planning scheduling contractor oversight documentation and follow-up on maintenance activities needed to support ecological function regulatory compliance and site operations.

  • Coordinate environmentalmonitoring including wildlifevegetation invasive and nuisance species habitat condition and other field surveys needed to support mitigation bank and CCS environmental management activities.

  • Track environmental commitments permit requirements recurring compliance activities regulatory deadlines credit sale obligations and reporting obligations associated with the mitigation bank CCS and related environmental monitoring programs.

  • Review field documentation laboratory reports chain-of-custody records monitoring logs contractor deliverables photographs survey notes and supporting documentation for completeness consistency and follow-up needs.

  • Assist with data management data mining quality control review trend identification and organization of monitoring and survey data for regulatory operational and management purposes.

  • Coordinate with environmental contractors laboratories couriers field teams project managers and internal stakeholders to support timely completion of field work vegetation activities monitoring reporting and administrative needs.

  • Support preparation review and organization of regulatory reports technical summaries compliance submittals internal updates leadership briefings and project status materials.

  • Maintain project tracking tools monitoring calendars action item logs reporting schedules procurement records invoice documentation and compliance documentation systems.

  • Identify project risks schedule conflicts data gaps documentation issues or process improvement opportunities and elevate them to the appropriate project manager or subject matter expert.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with mitigation bank management credit sale support vegetation management environmental surveys ecological monitoring environmental compliance regulatory reporting or environmental project coordination.

  • Working knowledge of habitat management invasive species management groundwater surface water water quality monitoring or environmental sampling programs.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules track deliverables coordinate contractors organize documentation and follow up on action items.

  • Experience reviewing technical documents field forms laboratory reports chain-of-custody records survey notes photographs or environmental data.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office especially Excel Word Outlook and PowerPoint; experience with SharePoint Power BI GIS databases or environmental data platforms is a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear summaries tables charts and reports for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong attention to detail proactive problem-solving and ability to work independently while supporting a larger environmental project team in a highly regulated environment.

  • Prior field laboratory environmental technician mitigation bank or vegetation management experience is beneficial.

Job Overview

Employees in this job are responsible for providing expert environmental support for new and existing facilities including due diligence permitting regulatory compliance regulatory interpretation and development and interface with Federal State and Regional agencies.
