GHD is seeking an Environmental Project Manager / Senior Environmental Project Manager to lead contaminated site assessment remediation and regulatory closure projects for Class I railroad clients across North America. This role combines client leadership project management environmental strategy and multidisciplinary team coordination to deliver complex projects safely efficiently and successfully from investigation through closure.

What Youll Do
Project Management
- Lead environmental projects and project teams achieving client communication scope schedule and budget objectives.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders to deliver safe efficient and technically sound project outcomes.
- Manage projects through all phases of the project lifecycle including emergency response site investigation remediation monitoring and closure.
- Develop and maintain project budgets forecasts and supporting documentation in accordance with client requirements.
- Oversee preparation of work plans technical reports cost estimates and regulatory submittals that meet client and GHD quality standards.
- Lead projects to successful regulatory closure while balancing technical quality client objectives and risk management.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients regulatory agencies contractors and other stakeholders.
- Understand client priorities business drivers and risk considerations to deliver responsive and value-driven solutions.
Client Leadership (External)
- Lead client communications project updates and technical discussions throughout project execution.
- Present clear option-based recommendations that help clients manage environmental risk compliance obligations and project costs.
Technical Leadership
- Lead mentor and support the development of project managers and technical professionals.
- Evaluate site conditions remedial alternatives and regulatory strategies to support effective project decision-making and long-term site management.
- Develop conceptual site models and risk-based recommendations for contaminants such as petroleum VOCs SVOCs metals and emerging contaminants.
- Collaborate with environmental engineering and remediation specialists across GHDs global network to deliver best-fit technical solutions.
- Apply technical judgment and data-driven analysis to identify risks evaluate options and recommend practical paths forward.
- Ensure technical deliverables undergo appropriate review and QA/QC processes to maintain consistency accuracy and quality.
Health Safety and Environment
- Champion a culture of health safety and environmental stewardship by leading safe work practices and compliance with GHD and client requirements.
- Identify communicate and address project risks to protect people communities and the environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety performance and project delivery excellence.
Professional Growth
- Maintain understanding of evolving environmental regulations remedial technologies and industry best practices.
- Support the development and mentoring of early-career professionals.
- Pursue and maintain external professional accreditation where relevant (e.g. PG PE or related credentials).
- Engage actively within GHDs environmental community of practice to share knowledge and strengthen technical expertise.
What Were Looking For
Education
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Geology Environmental Science Engineering or related discipline.
- Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer license a plus.
- OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification a plus.
- eRailsafe certification a plus.
Experience
- Project Manager: Typically 5-10 years of relevant environmental consulting experience including contaminated site assessment remediation regulatory compliance and project management.
- Senior Project Manager: Typically 10 years of relevant environmental consulting experience including leadership of complex remediation projects regulatory closure strategies client relationships and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience preparing regulatory work plans and reports for investigation remediation closure and post-closure monitoring.
- Working knowledge of remedial technologies hydrogeologic analysis and environmental containment and treatment systems.
- Experience managing multiple tasks in a consulting environment with attention to quality and client service.
- Experience using portfolio financial management systems (e.g. ENFOS or similar) preferred.
- Class I railroad experience including compliance with federal/state environmental regulations and permitting processes preferred.

Salary Range: $98805.00 - $164588.00 based on experience and location.
