Senior Electrical Engineer

Leads electrical design for photovoltaic and battery energy storage system power generation projects on behalf of engineering design firm in Honolulu HI. Oversees all aspects of electrical design quality code compliance and cross-discipline coordination. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with mentorship and client-facing responsibilities to deliver reliable constructible and cost-optimized renewable-energy systems.

Project Leadership (9%):

Lead electrical design for utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects (typically 100 MWac) from conceptual layout through issued-for-construction deliverables 2%;

May serve as Engineer of Record or responsible engineer on assigned projects signing and sealing drawings as required 5%;

Review and approve vendor datasheets and submittals for electrical BOS components 2%;

Electrical Design & Engineering (6%):

Develop one-line and three-line diagrams AC/DC schematics cable schedules grounding and trenching plans and equipment specifications 2%;

Ensure compliance with NEC ArticlesIEEE 1547 and applicable UL NFPA and utility standards 2%;

Perform power and energy studies including load flow voltage-drop and wire-loss analysis 2%;

Quality Assurance & Process Improvement (30%):

Review project deliverables prepared by junior engineers for technical accuracy and adherence to Revamp standards 10%;

Develop and maintain internal design templates calculation tools and QA/QC procedures 10%;

Support proposal development budgeting and schedule estimation for new pursuits 10%;

Lead Project Coordination & Client Engagement (30%):

Act as the main point of contact for electrical engineering within multi-disciplinary project teams 10%;

Lead technical discussions with clients utilities EPC partners and AHJs 10%;

Coordinate with civil structural and power-systems teams to ensure design consistency and constructability 10%;

Mentorship & Supervision (25%):

Supervise and mentor Engineer IIII staff providing feedback and training on best practices 10%;

Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across geographically distributed teams 5%;

Perform essential duties including meeting deliverables and deadlines 5%;

Perform additional duties as assigned or directed 5%;

Requirements:

MS in Energy Engineering Renewable Energy Engineering Electrical Engineering or related plus six (6) years of experience in electrical design for renewable energy projects.

Experience must include the following:
- 5 years experience in solar PV or battery energy storage system (BESS) design;
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with PVsyst Helioscope or comparable modeling software;
- Experience with NEC ArticlesIEEE 1547 and interconnection standards;
- Experience leading or reviewing designs for projects 50 MWac;
- Experience in an engineering consulting owner/developer or EPC environment supporting utility-scale renewable projects;
- Experience with medium-voltage collection systems substation interface design or hybrid PV BESS microgrid configurations; and
- Experience with ETAP CYMCAP or similar power-analysis software;

Rate of Pay: $133300/year Salary Range: $133300 to $168900/year

The expected salary range for this position is based on the primary location of Honolulu HI. Annual actual pay will be determined based on experience qualifications geographic location & other job-related factors permitted by law.
