The Senior Director Corporate Responsibility Operations plays a critical role in enabling the success and scale of Gileads Corporate Responsibility programs. Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Responsibility this individual will lead the design implementation and continuous improvement of operational systems processes and governance that support program execution globally. The Senior Director develops and implements advanced operational concepts techniques and standards that serve as benchmarks for future organizational decisions and strategies.
Corporate Responsibility Operations and Execution
- Lead the operational strategy and execution for Corporate Responsibility programs including grants sponsorships partnerships and related initiatives ensuring alignment with corporate priorities.
- Develop solutions to problems of unusual complexity requiring a high degree of ingenuity creativity and innovativeness. Solutions may serve as precedents for future decisions affecting the entire organization.
- Translate strategic direction into clear operational plans and roadmaps that drive execution and results.
- Drive the design and implementation of standardized processes governance frameworks and workflows to enable consistency scalability and compliance across programs.
- Oversee enterprise-wide data harmonization across Corporate Responsibility initiatives to ensure accuracy transparency and alignment.
Systems Data and Performance Management
- Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Lead the development and deployment of systems and tools to support performance tracking reporting spend and compliance.
- Develop dashboards reporting frameworks and executive-level insights to support leadership decision-making.
- Translate complex data into actionable insights that inform strategy and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Leadership and Governance
- Partner across Corporate Responsibility Public Affairs Legal Compliance and Finance to streamline processes and enhance program delivery.
- Design and implement governance structures policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure operational rigor and compliance.
- Support stakeholder engagement efforts by ensuring operational readiness and execution of high-impact initiatives.
- Drive ongoing process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency reduce risk and strengthen program delivery.
- Manage budgets vendors and external partners to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and operational goals.
Expertise & Authority
- Viewed as an expert in the field both within and outside the corporation serving as a prime consultant and external spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters relating to policies programs operational excellence and long-range goals and objectives.
Independence & Direction
- Assignments are frequently self-initiated with no direct supervision. The Senior Director works continuously under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives that have a significant impact on the organization.
Decision-Making & Impact
- Decisions made by the Senior Director often affect the financial employee or public relations posture of the organization.
Knowledge Experience and Skills
- Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 14 years of professional experience in corporate responsibility public affairs operations or a related field OR Masters Degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience leading complex cross-functional operational initiatives and delivering results at scale.
- Demonstrated leadership experience including building and developing high-performing teams in a matrixed organization.
- Strong strategic thinking and operational execution capabilities with the ability to translate priorities into actionable plans.
- Experience designing and implementing systems processes and governance frameworks to support large-scale programs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights.
- Experience managing budgets vendors and external partnerships.
- Experience in the biopharmaceutical industry or a highly regulated environment preferred.
Additional Information
- This role requires the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- The role may require periodic travel as needed to support program execution
