Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Under Secretary for Management (USM).

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Senior Correspondence Analyst (Deputy Director) providing leadership and oversight for executive-level correspondence management and coordination across MGMT and DHS components. .

Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.


Duties

As a Senior Correspondence Analyst GSyour typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Serves as Deputy Director ensuring assignments are correct controlled timely and reflect the policies of MGMT DHS and the Federal government.
  • Manages input received from the organization consolidates comments from senior and executive leadership resolves contending positions and proposes alternative language to achieve consensus consistent with Department strategic goals.
  • Prepares briefing materials talking points and executive summaries for senior management on diversified complex subjects.
  • Provides procedural and technical advice interpretations and guidance to staff managers and leadership regarding the preparation of written materials workflow and clearance processing.
  • Serves as lead on assigned ExecSec portfolio areas assigning monitoring and evaluating the work of the team to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with record management policies.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government performing duties such as:

  1. Researching gathering developing and checking the accuracy of information from a wide range of sources regarding Department policy objectives ;
  2. Determining the organization of final documents and editing information for clarity and accuracy ;
  3. Providing procedural and technical advice regarding the preparation of written materials workflow and clearance processing to ensure timely responses to staff managers and senior leadership. AND
  4. Preparing and coordinating the scheduling and preparation of briefing materials.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience.
