Position Overview

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil / Roadway Engineer to contribute to major aviation and infrastructure improvements at Orlando International Airport through American Infrastructure Development Inc. (AID).

The selected professional will provide a combination of civil and roadway engineering construction observation field coordination design review project support and client coordination within one of the countrys busiest aviation environments.

The role is designed for an experienced engineer who can confidently move between engineering design active construction sites project meetings contractor coordination and communication with airport representatives.

Depending on experience the selected professional may assume responsibilities ranging from Senior Project Engineer to Project Manager Construction Engineering or senior client-facing leadership.

The strongest fit will be a self-starter who takes ownership of assignments identifies potential project challenges before they affect delivery communicates proactively and understands how engineering decisions affect constructability cost schedule safety and airport operations.

This position also provides an opportunity to develop highly specialized experience across aviation infrastructure roadway engineering construction administration and airport capital-improvement programs.

Orlando International Airport

This position will be based in Orlando and primarily focused on projects at Orlando International Airport (MCO).

The airport represents a complex high-traffic aviation environment with ongoing infrastructure requirements involving roadways passenger circulation parking utilities stormwater systems terminal access site development and other landside and airside improvements.

The selected engineer will work closely with project teams airport representatives contractors consultants and other stakeholders to help ensure infrastructure improvements are designed and constructed in accordance with approved plans specifications safety requirements and airport operational needs.

Core Responsibilities

Civil & Roadway Engineering

  • Perform and oversee civil and roadway engineering assignments for projects at Orlando International Airport
  • Prepare or review roadway plans profiles cross-sections grading plans drainage plans utility plans and construction details
  • Support roadway geometric design pavement design earthwork calculations and site-development activities
  • Use Autodesk Civil 3D and related engineering software to prepare or review design models and construction documents
  • Evaluate roadway alignments profiles intersections access points and vehicle circulation
  • Coordinate roadway improvements with airport terminals parking facilities utilities drainage systems and active construction projects
  • Assist with stormwater drainage grading erosion-control and utility design
  • Prepare or review technical specifications engineering calculations quantity estimates and construction cost estimates
  • Apply applicable FAA FDOT Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) and local design requirements
  • Participate in permitting and coordination with government and regulatory agencies
  • Review plans and calculations prepared by junior engineers and designers
  • Support AIDs quality-assurance and quality-control processes
  • Evaluate design alternatives and recommend practical cost-effective engineering solutions
  • Coordinate civil and roadway design with multidisciplinary project requirements

Construction Observation & Field Support

  • Perform construction observation for civil roadway and airport infrastructure projects
  • Monitor construction activities for general conformance with approved plans specifications and contract requirements
  • Observe roadway pavement grading drainage utility and site-construction activities
  • Document daily construction progress manpower equipment weather materials and significant field conditions
  • Review contractor work and identify potential quality safety scheduling or constructability concerns
  • Communicate observed discrepancies to the appropriate project manager contractor or airport representative
  • Attend progress meetings preconstruction conferences and field coordination meetings
  • Review shop drawings product data material certifications and contractor submittals
  • Assist with responses to requests for information and interpretation of construction documents
  • Review contractor pay applications quantities and completed work when required
  • Maintain field reports photographs inspection records and project documentation
  • Participate in substantial-completion inspections punch-list development and project closeout
  • Help resolve field conflicts while protecting design intent and airport operational requirements
  • Coordinate construction work around active airport operations traffic patterns security restrictions and public access
  • Support construction phasing and maintenance-of-traffic requirements

Project & Client Coordination

  • Coordinate with AID engineers architects aviation planners and construction-management professionals
  • Work collaboratively with airport representatives consultants surveyors utility providers and contractors
  • Communicate project status risks schedule concerns and technical issues clearly
  • Assist project managers with scope schedule budget and quality-control responsibilities
  • Develop practical solutions to design and construction challenges
  • Maintain strong working relationships with GOAA and other project stakeholders
  • Mentor junior engineers designers and construction-observation personnel
  • Help develop internal technical standards construction procedures and quality-control practices
  • Participate in client meetings presentations and technical reviews
  • Support proposal development project pursuits and business-development activities when appropriate
  • Assist with project documentation technical reports cost estimates and deliverables
  • Help identify opportunities to improve project execution constructability and client service

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Experience: Approximately 825 years of civil transportation roadway or infrastructure engineering experience
  • Roadway Engineering: Meaningful roadway engineering experience
  • Construction: Experience with construction observation construction administration CEI or field engineering
  • Civil Design: Experience preparing or reviewing civil and roadway construction documents
  • Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of roadway design grading drainage utilities pavement earthwork and construction methods
  • Construction Documents: Ability to read and interpret construction plans specifications contracts and technical reports
  • Coordination: Experience working with contractors owners public agencies and multidisciplinary consultants
  • Software: Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Documentation: Ability to prepare accurate field reports and construction documentation

  • Licensure: Florida Professional Engineer license

  • GOAA Experience: Experience working with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range is $110000$165000 annually.

The lower portion of the range is intended for qualified engineers with approximately 812 years of relevant experience who are developing into senior project leadership responsibilities.

The middle and upper portions of the range are intended for candidates who bring extensive roadway and airport experience a Florida Professional Engineer license construction leadership client-management capabilities or the ability to oversee significant portions of an airport capital-improvement program.

Final compensation will be based on experience professional licensure Orlando International Airport familiarity roadway engineering capabilities construction observation experience project-management background and overall alignment with the position.
