Senior Assistant

The Commonwealths Attorneys Office for Botetourt County is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role as Senior Assistant Commonwealths Attorney.

This position is aSenior Level Prosecuting Attorney responsible for the evaluation preparation and trial of criminal cases at the General District Court and Circuit Court levels. This includes traffic infractions misdemeanor cases felony preliminary hearings certified felonies and felonies directly indicted.

Responsibilities include: The management of full dockets at the General District level as well as jury trials bench trials motions practice revocation hearings and all filings at the Circuit Court level; and complete control responsibility for and proper administration of cases at both levels including the preparation of all motions and hearings necessary.

Additional responsibilities include training and advising law enforcement officers regarding investigation and trial of criminal cases.

This position requires a minimum of 4 Years of trial practice criminal trial experience preferred. Must be active and in good standing with the Virginia State Bar.

Salary range: $120000 to $146000 depending on experience.
