Position Overview
Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking an experienced Senior Application Administrator to support a Department of Defense customer at Fort Belvoir VA. This individual will serve as the primary technical lead for one or more mission-critical enterprise applications ensuring their reliability security and performance throughout the application lifecycle.
Working closely with system administrators database administrators developers and cybersecurity professionals the Senior Application Administrator will manage application installations upgrades deployments integrations and security compliance across development pre-production and production environments. This position plays a key role in maintaining secure highly available applications that directly support the customers mission.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical administrator for assigned enterprise applications.
- Install configure maintain and troubleshoot application software and supporting components.
- Plan and execute software installations upgrades patches and application releases.
- Support application deployments across development pre-production and production environments.
- Configure and maintain application interfaces APIs and related integrations.
- Identify and coordinate application-specific server network and firewall requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application incidents to ensure high system availability.
- Provide technical support for infrastructure and data center migration activities.
- Coordinate application release activities while following established change management processes.
- Implement and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs).
- Generate required cybersecurity compliance documentation and supporting artifacts.
- Research analyze and remediate vulnerabilities identified through cybersecurity scanning and assessments.
- Collaborate with infrastructure database networking and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure reliable application services.
- Support modernization initiatives and evolving mission requirements.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience administering enterprise applications in a Windows and/or Linux environment.
- Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology Engineering or a related field. Four (4) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
- Current DoD 8140-approved certification such as Security Cloud GSEC GICSP SSCP or a higher-level equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting application installations upgrades deployments and lifecycle management.
- Experience implementing STIGs SRGs and cybersecurity best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex application issues.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or other Federal Government enterprise environments.
- Experience administering mission-critical applications in production environments.
- Knowledge of application release management and configuration management processes.
- Experience supporting application integrations APIs middleware and web services.
- Familiarity with Windows Server Linux SQL Server networking and enterprise infrastructure.
- Experience supporting cloud or hybrid environments.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional technical teams.
