Job Summary

Description

The Senior General Accounting & Systems Specialist isaccountable for maintaining updating and redesigning (as necessary) the intercompany cost allocation model to achieve accurate intercompany personis responsible for managing manipulating and calculating large amounts of data using specific systems/apps/tools to ensure appropriate transfer pricing methods and accurate tracking of results. The individualcollaborates and maintains strong working relationships with team members in Bucharest where intercompany payments and receipts are handled. The individual will interact and collaborate with colleagues in Ireland and Paris the centers for most of our foreign intercompany cost allocations and home (Paris) to our internally developed global costing tool. The individualis responsible for maintaining and updating the operating expense database which feeds numerous reports and analytics. The individual performs detailed analysis of results and variances to ensure accurate legal entity expense reporting and provides value added commentary. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the General Accounting functions.



Responsibilities
  • Maintain update and/or redesign (as needed) US Life intercompany cost allocation model in Excel in compliance with service level agreements with affiliates. Use of Alteryx SQL Server Power BI Power Pivot and Power Query is required. Ensure output is accurate and is entered correctly into global costing tool (CostVision).
  • Develop and maintain mastery of SCORs global intercompany costing tool (CostVision/PaPM) and related inputs outputs and reporting. Advocate for specific requirements to support local needs.
  • Participate in projects that impact expenses volumes business flows and inputs to the models in order to modify models as necessary and/or influence projects to ensure outcomes are in line with intent.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of trial balance sheet accounts and expense database to verify results faciliate research and analysis and to enable timely production of reports.
  • Problem solve drivers of unexpected outcomes and determine corrective actions if needed.
  • Proactively communicate/collaborate with team members / colleagues in Paris Bucharest and Ireland including addressing questions about calculations of expense allocations.
  • Review and post any manual entries in SAP to record intercompany cost sharing.
  • Review and post other journal entries in SAP as needed
  • Utilize technical skills and process improvement skills to streamline processes and gain efficiencies.
  • Prepare reports and perform analytics for senior management to assist in evaluating actual and planned results.
  • Provide information and documentation to internal and external auditors state examiners tax experts and internal partners as needed.
  • Facilitate and perform ad hoc requests.
  • May perform other duties as necessary to support General Accounting functions and objectives.


Qualifications
  • 5-7 years of relevant finance and/or accounting experience.
  • Bachelors of Accounting or Finance or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence or Bachelors of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems or related field with demonstrated understanding of Accounting and record of academic excellence.
  • Very strong PC skills in a windows-based environment
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required AFO Pivots Power Query Power Pivot and knowledge of VBA;
    • Experience with Alteryx SQL Server and PowerBI.
    • Strong knowledge of SAP G/L Systems
    • Knowledge of relational databases.
  • Experience in insurance/reinsurance accounting preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and own processes with little management oversight
  • Strong attention to detail while working effectively in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities
  • Demonstration of solid analytic and critical thinking skills with strong problem-solving ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with individuals at all levels within the company to maximize performance creativity problem solving and results
  • Dependable with a strong sense of urgency and ability to work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines

  • Experience working with multiple legal entities and multiple bases of accounting preferred
  • Highly motivated self-starter with proven ability to manage multiple priorities & meet challenging timeframes.
  • Ability to independently identify processes and procedures needing improvement and propose solutions.
