About the Position:

Reporting to the Accounting Manager and as a member oftheaccountingteam the Senior Accountant will meticulously manage amultitude of accounting activities includingbi-weekly payroll reviewandpayrollallocation generalledgerreconciliationsbank reconciliationsrevenue recognition cost allocationsandreclasses month-end close and year-end audit preparation.

This position presents an excitingopportunity for an accounting professional to broaden theirexpertiseacross allfacetsof finance within amission-driven person will play a key role in supporting elements aroundnumerousaccounting functionsandpartnercross functionally across the entire Finance team to ensure best practicesto support the audit and month end components for the team.

Whatyoulldo:

Managedailyaccounting functions andsupport key pieces ofthe monthly and annual close

  • Conduct thorough reviews of bi-weekly payroll and serve as a backup for payroll processing in collaboration with theaccounting team
  • Provide support in thecollection validation and consolidation of payroll input data in preparation for bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Manageand support thereconciliationof multiplebank andinvestmentaccounts
  • Processbi-weeklypayrollallocationentriesandaccrualsprepare reconciliation for balance sheet accounts and audit schedules
  • Monitor and ensure compliance withinternal financial and accounting controls over procurement payroll receipts disbursements and other processes
  • Maintain thefixedasset and associated depreciation schedules
  • Preparemonthly journalentriesandensure proper recordingand trackingof new purchases and disposals
  • Preparejournal entries and collecting analyzing and summarizing account information for monthly and year-end closingincluding prepaid entries accruals reclasses and others
  • Manageandmaintainleaseschedules ensuring proper amortization of right ofuseassets
  • Perform indirect cost recovery and processother costallocations acrossthe organization
  • Prepare thefederal drawdowns reconciling federal revenue andexpenses andassistingin preparation ofSEFA (Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards)
  • Managestate registrations andother organization fillings

Collaboratewithkey stakeholders across theFinanceteam to supportteamgoals andobjectives

  • Respond to inquiries fromfinanceleadershipfinancecolleaguesandother program managersregardingfinancial resultsandspecial reporting requests
  • Assistwith preparation of financial reporting to donors and other statutory financial reports
  • Assistwith annual auditrequestsresource-gathering andrecommendedfollow-through
  • Provide accounting supportand collaborate closely with grants stewards teamand finance businesspartnerongrantsreports and analysis
  • Partner with grants stewardteamtoreview and prepare reclassification entriesto ensure proper reporting of expenses to individual awardsensuring proper documentation is received

Analyzeand implementbest practices aroundefficient procedures andresourcesacrossthe Finance team

  • Partner with theSeniorDirector of Accountingand theAccountingManageron updates toprocesses andpolicies
  • Support maintenance and enhancements of integratedfinancial managementsystemNetSuite
  • Monitor and help support compliance around different accounting functionsincluding payrollaccountspayable federalaward expenditure and accounts receivablesin alignmentwith organizationalpoliciesproceduresand federal regulationstomeet our NorthStar goals

Who you are:

  • You bring experience with accountingpayrolland reconciliations preferably within a fast-paced nonprofit environment (New hires at theSeniorManager level at JFF typically bring 5-10 years of prior professional experience through a combination of full-time part-time internship and/or freelance positions)
  • You have 3-4 yearsof accounting experience innon-profitorganizations; Backgroundworking with federal and state grant programs isideal
  • Youare deeplyexperiencedwithNetSuiteora similar accountingsystemwithexpertiseusing Microsoft Excel or other reporting systems
  • You bringa knowledgeand understanding of GAAP andnot for profit/fundaccountingorcost accounting
  • You thrive atmulti-tasking workingunderambiguous environmentsand meetingdeadlinestoaccomplishkey financial goals
  • You have experiencesupporting and analyzing best practices to ensurecompliance and other accounting functions
  • Youknow how to develop collaborative partnerships across the organizationtoachieve results; youcontinuallyleverageyourcommunication skillsand customer serviceapproach whenworking alongside staff membersand external stakeholders especially when handling confidential matters
  • You havea track recordof successfunctioningboth independently and as a member of across-functional team
  • Youpossesshigh energy and passion for JFFs mission and North Star and the ability to apply JFFs core values to all areas of your work
  • Youdemonstrateawareness of your performance impact and of those around you with respect to the cultural context of your organization

The hiring range for this role is $80000- $100000annually in alignment to JFFsSeniorManagersalary band and our compensation philosophy. Starting salaries for new hires will bedeterminedbased on a combination of the new hires relevant experience and market demands.
