Job Summary
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Secret-Cleared Technical Writer in San Diego California for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will develop edit and maintain technical publications and program documentation for a large defense program. The Technical Writer will work closely with subject matter experts Configuration Management Quality and program teams to ensure technical documents are accurate consistent compliant and delivered on schedule.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree with 5 years of related experience masters degree with 3 years or Ph.D. with 1 year of related experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain required Special Access Program (SAP) access.
- Experience developing and maintaining program plans process documents and technical publications.
- Strong technical writing and editing skills with emphasis on accuracy consistency and document formatting.
- Experience working with subject matter experts to develop and clarify technical content.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word PowerPoint Excel Visio and SharePoint.
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple documentation requirements and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within cross-functional teams.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Skills
- Understanding of Statements of Work (SOWs) Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) and other contractual documentation requirements.
- Familiarity with Configuration Management processes.
- Experience interpreting Security Classification Guides and applying document portion markings.
- Proposal-development experience.
- Experience authoring Basis of Estimates (BOEs).
- Experience editing technical proposal volumes.
- Experience working within Agile environments.
- Jira experience.
What Youll Do
- Write and edit technical plans reports test procedures statements of work user manuals operations manuals requirements specifications validation documents and proposal content.
- Work with engineers and other subject matter experts to improve the clarity and accuracy of technical documentation.
- Review technical content for consistency formatting grammar and compliance with program requirements.
- Coordinate document publication and delivery with Configuration Management and Quality teams.
- Capture meeting minutes technical decisions and action items during technical exchange meetings and design reviews.
- Develop and maintain program plans and process documentation.
- Support document configuration revision control and formal release activities.
- Assist with proposal documentation and other program deliverables as required.
- Track documentation requirements and ensure assigned deliverables meet program schedules.
Work Schedule / Shift
- 9/80 work schedule.
- Full-time onsite in San Diego California.
- Remote work is not available.
Pay
- $67.93 per hour.
