Seasonal Loader Operator Snow Operations
Job Summary
- Operate front-end loaders and assigned heavy equipment safely and efficiently during winter maintenance operations.
- Load salt sand and other de-icing materials into trucks trailers and spreader vehicles.
- Assist with preparing equipment before during and after winter weather events.
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections of assigned equipment.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance and report equipment deficiencies to supervisors.
- Assist with snow and ice response activities as assigned.
- Follow all OSHA company and industry safety policies and procedures.
- Wear and properly utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment.
- Work safely around heavy equipment and active maintenance operations.
- Respond to emergency call-outs including nights weekends holidays and adverse weather conditions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work assignments and operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience operating front-end loaders or similar heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of safe heavy equipment operating procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather-conditions.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations outside normal working hours.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is desired but not required.
- Clean driving record.

Strong situational awareness and ability to multitask in a fast-paced noisy environment. Scheduling flexibility including weekends holidays and varying shifts. Field operations experience preferred. Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor. Education & Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. Knowledge of traffic control operations rules and procedures. Familiarity with Hampton Roads interstates and local roadways. Strong command of the English language (verbal and written); Spanish bilingual skills are a plus. General working knowledge of vehicle maintenance. Experience with radio telephone and dispatch communications. Computer proficiency including Windows-based applications and Apple devices. Work Authorization Must be a U.S. Citizen Work Environment & Conditions 90-day probationary period. Required VDOT and industry-specific training. Hazardous work environment involving on-foot roadway operations. All-season all-hour interstate driving and facility coverage. Extended periods of standing or sitting may be required. Subject to short or no-notice work assignments. Safety apparel organizational uniforms and required equipment provided. Performance monitored through routine evaluations. Frequent interaction with the public and media.
