Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Responsible for the safe execution of all supply chain procurement and materials management activities supporting ship newbuilding and major marine construction programs in accordance with the companys overall safety goals objectives and policies.
  2. Direct and oversee all phases of material and equipment procurement from requisition through sourcing purchase order award expediting receipt inspection and delivery to production.
  3. Maximize financial returns on capital resources through effective supplier negotiation cost control inventory management and strategic sourcing decisions.
  4. Ensure materials and equipment required for newbuilding programs are procured safely on schedule within budget and in compliance with all contractual requirements.
  5. Continuously monitor supplier capacity lead times material availability and logistics infrastructure to ensure capability to meet current and future program requirements.
  6. Work closely with Engineering Production Quality Finance and Project Management personnel to ensure efficient integration of procurement and materials planning into the overall construction schedule.
  7. Ensure compliance with Gulf Copper Mission Statement and Quality Management System.
  8. Plan direct and coordinate all aspects of supply chain procurement logistics and warehousing operations supporting newbuilding programs.
  9. Establish and maintain sourcing strategies procurement schedules performance metrics and reporting systems for all assigned projects.
  10. Review and approve major purchase orders subcontract agreements change orders and commercial commitments in conjunction with Corporate Legal Counsel prior to execution.
  11. Ensure vendor and subcontractor agreements are effectively managed to maximize safety quality cost performance schedule performance and customer satisfaction.
  12. Oversee sourcing purchasing expediting receiving warehousing and inventory control activities to ensure successful and timely vessel delivery.
  13. Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory classification society customs/import environmental and customer requirements related to procured materials and equipment.
  14. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers subcontractors freight and logistics providers classification societies and key vendors.
  15. Ensure vendors and suppliers meet company performance schedule technical and financial requirements.
  16. In coordination with the Corporate Human Resources Department interview hire develop and retain supply chain and procurement personnel supporting shipbuilding and construction programs.
  17. Provide leadership motivation guidance performance evaluations coaching and professional development for direct reports and their subordinate teams.
  18. Lead strategic planning efforts related to sourcing strategy supplier development warehouse and logistics infrastructure and procurement system investments.
  19. Promote a culture of accountability teamwork innovation continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout all supply chain activities.

Required Education & Experience:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in Supply Chain Management Business Administration Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible supply chain procurement or materials management experience in shipbuilding vessel construction heavy industrial construction offshore fabrication or marine project environments.
  3. Demonstrated experience managing procurement and materials planning for large complex newbuild vessel programs and multidiscipline project teams.
  4. CSCP or CPSM certification MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Working Conditions:

  1. Regular exposure to all weather conditions especially hot humid and / or rainy weather combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.

Necessary Equipment Operation:

  1. Computer systems and standard office equipment.
  2. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) materials requirements planning (MRP) and shipyard production management systems.
  3. Personal protective equipment (PPE) required in production and waterfront areas.
