Science Teacher, 7Th Grade Los Banos Junior High School

SCIENCE TEACHERUnder the principals direction and as part of a secondary teaching assignment the Science Teacher teaches one or more classes of science and assists in other school duties as Teacher attempts to develop in each pupil an appreciation of the physical and biological aspects of our environment; to motivate in each pupil the development of the powers of critical observation careful description and rational thinking; to develop a basic concept and general principle essential to understanding science; to develop in each student an understanding of the relationship between science and technology and appreciate the contributions that both have made to the intellectual and economic development of Duties and Responsibilities: duties in accordance with District and State school policies andor courses in science drugs and V.D. to secondary pupils utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning pupils in citizenship basic communication skills and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers as specified in State law and administrative regulation and procedures of the School a balanced science program involving factual background material material on current events discussion time and other appropriate activities designed to encourage pupils to develop skills and attitudes draw conclusions achieve improved interpersonal relationships and make value judgments based on scientific methods of individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities and cultural material from current magazines newspapers television programs etc. available to pupils; plans and guides discussions of current science problems being knowledge of science techniques of other nations and their influence on living standards of the people in our pupils to become aware of the complexity and interrelations of local state national and world and maintains standards of pupils behavior needed to provide an orderly productive classroom with assistance of pupils interest centers and displays with material to enhance each pupils development in course being taught and prepares progress professional competence through participation in inservice education with the principal or hisher designee to mutually develop the system by which heshe will be evaluated in conformance with the Districts uniform guidelines for evaluation and Duties and Responsibilities: and requisitions books instructional aides and instructional supplies and maintains required inventory records; may request resource speakers and field with parents and school personnel to discuss the individual pupils pupils needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health attitude and learning pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school or assignment andor on a District level. May teach under the module or flexible scheduling basic attendance accounting and business services as and coordinates the work of aides teacher assistants andor other all faculty in-service and articulation other duties such as yard and bus duties as assigned by the schools extra duty co-curricular activities such as students supervision at athletic events club sponsorships and dance duties as in writing goals and performance objectives in his teaching assignment and relevant school and District levels as assigned.
