Job Summary
Full-Time Occupational Therapist Illinois
Support Student Participation Progress & Independence
Our Organization is partnering with an Illinois school district to hire a full-time Occupational Therapist for the academic year. This school-based opportunity is well suited for an OT who enjoys working directly with students and using therapeutic strategies to help them participate more successfully in their educational environment.
As part of the school team youll provide in-person occupational therapy services based on individual student needs. Your work will help students strengthen the functional abilities needed for learning and daily school routines including fine motor development sensory processing self-care coordination and classroom participation.
School-Based Occupational Therapist Duties:
- Evaluate students functional and developmental needs.
- Document services assessments and student outcomes.
- Develop and implement individualized OT treatment plans.
- Provide direct and/or consultative occupational therapy services.
- Address fine motor gross motor sensory and coordination skills.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to students educational goals.
- Support students with handwriting classroom tasks and self-care activities.
- Recommend and implement adaptive equipment and classroom accommodations.
- Promote student independence participation and success in the school environment.
- Collaborate with teachers families special education staff and related-service providers.
Requirements
- Ability to provide school-based/in-person occupational therapy services.
- Masters degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited program.
- OTR examination passage is required for Illinois licensure through the examination pathway.
- School-based experience is preferred but not necessarily required depending on the district.
- Active Illinois Occupational Therapist (OT) license through IDFPR or eligibility for Illinois licensure.
- Ability to collaborate with teachers families special education teams and other related-service professionals.
