Job Summary
The Safety Engineer is responsible for planning implementing and continuously improving the organizations occupational health and safety programs within a manufacturing environment. This position ensures compliance with OSHA EPA state and local regulatory requirements while supporting company initiatives to eliminate workplace hazards reduce incidents and promote a proactive safety culture.
The Safety Engineer partners with operations engineering maintenance quality human resources and leadership to identify risks implement engineering controls conduct investigations and ensure employees work in a safe and compliant environment.
Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop implement and maintain comprehensive safety programs policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA EPA NFPA and applicable federal state and local regulations.
- Conduct facility safety inspections audits and hazard assessments.
- Perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) Risk Assessments and Process Safety Reviews.
- Investigate incidents injuries near misses and property damage events using root cause analysis techniques.
- Develop corrective and preventive action plans and monitor completion.
- Conduct new employee safety orientation and ongoing safety training.
- Coordinate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Confined Space Hot Work Machine Guarding Fall Protection and PPE programs.
- Monitor contractor safety compliance.
- Maintain OSHA logs regulatory documentation and required safety records.
- Assist with workers compensation case management and return-to-work initiatives.
- Participate in facility expansion projects and equipment installations to ensure safe design principles are incorporated.
- Lead emergency preparedness planning evacuation drills and incident response activities.
- Analyze safety performance metrics and prepare reports for management.
- Support ISO 45001 initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
- Promote employee engagement through safety committees and behavioral safety programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

- First Aid/CPR Certification
- ISO 45001 experience
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience

Work Environment
