Job Summary

Job Title: Safety and Security Officer

Reports To: Safety & Security Director

Length of Contract: 10 months (183 days)

This is a 3 year pilot program from the State of Oklahoma.

$40000 per year plus travel and cell phone stipend.

Paid state health insurance.

Job Summary:

The Safety and Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security programs and services

to students staff parents and the community at all District buildings. The Safety and Security Officer is also

responsible for compliance with all federal state and local safety and security regulations.

Requirements:

Sapulpa Public Schools is seeking an individual who has demonstrated professional work

experience on at least one of the primary fields related to this position:

  • Law Enforcement
  • Security
  • Emergency Management

Preferred Experience or Training:

  • CLEET Training
  • School Resource Officer

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist the Safety and Security Director in planning organizing managing and administering the Districts safety and security plan to ensure a safe environment for students staff and the public.
  • Assist in developing maintaining assessing and coordinating the delivery of health safetyemergency response and preparedness training for staff including planning and monitoring compliance of safety drills and school safety teams
  • Participates with school and public safety personnel in developing plans to respond toschool security concerns including threat assessment
  • Works with administrators in charge during emergency situations to ensure plans arefollowed and situations resolved effectively.
  • Assist with maintaining the crisis intervention and emergency management programs in coordinationwith city and county emergency management and coordinates staff training
  • Works collaboratively with the IT department on the design implementation and stafftraining of District emergency alert communication and response systems.
  • Assist in formulating new safety and security policies and research new technologies and industrybest practices
  • Administers building security including security and surveillance equipment door lockskey security employee ID badges and related materials.
  • Assist in communicating and auditing fired drills and hazard emergency and lock down drills withprincipals.
  • Conducts safety walk-around inspections at each site at least annually and reports findings to the Safety and Security Director.

  • Provide security at school events and school board meetings.
  • Any other assignment given by the Superintendent and or designees.
