Job Summary

Operates a wide variety of construction equipment and motorized wheeled vehicles including commercial trucks and tractors over25000 lbs. to provide utilities general excavation and construction maintenance support
Performs manual labor for general maintenance and landscape construction tasks including shoveling paving catch basin minor repairs cleaning tamping snow removal and other duties that apply
Promptly reports unsafe conditions or damage to campus landscape/hardscape equipment or facilities
Subject tocall-intwenty-four hours a day seven days a week to handle emergencies especially snow events
Subjecttoshift changes and extended working hours (including nights early mornings evenings weekends and holidays) to meet seasonal work demands
Subject to working in weather related extremes of heat and cold for extended periods
Maycome into contact withsewage and dead animals
Regular exposure to bees and pollen
This position is covered by the UAW Collective Bargaining Agreement
At the end of the probationary period employees willbe requiredto pay union dues per article 1 of the agreement
This is an Endowed union position within theUAW. The starting pay rate is $27.13/hour.

Werequirethese qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of three years experience in the construction field and related equipment operation to include a minimum of one years experience working around underground utilitiesoperatingmotorized construction and snowplow equipment
Must have andmaintaina valid US drivers license; may betooperatea motor vehicle (your own) vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites
CDLB licenseor must obtain within 6 months of hire. Mustmaintaina current DOT physical pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students faculty staff and community members.

Associates Degree in Construction Technologydesirable
Formal training in construction technologies building trades or equipment operation helpful
Current CDL license preferred
