Position Summary:

The Rotor Repair Cobot Welder is responsible for operating monitoring and supporting collaborative robotic welding systems used in the repair and refurbishment of rotors and related components. This position ensures repaired components meet established quality safety and productivity standards while partnering with engineering maintenance quality and operations teams to support continuous improvement of repair processes.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Operate collaborative robotic welding systems to perform rotor repair welding processes.
  • Load unload position and secure rotor components in welding fixtures.
  • Inspect rotor components before and after welding to verify compliance with repair specifications.
  • Adjust cobot welding parameters within approved process guidelines.
  • Perform basic robot teach points and program touch-ups as required.
  • Conduct visual inspections and basic dimensional checks on completed welds.
  • Complete production quality and repair documentation accurately and on time.
  • Troubleshoot minor cobot tooling and welding issues; escalate complex issues as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping on welding equipment and work areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures PPE requirements and welding safety standards.
  • Collaborate with quality engineering maintenance and operations teams to support repair objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years of welding manufacturing or industrial repair experience preferred.
  • Experience operating robotic or automated welding equipment preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints repair specifications and weld symbols.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MIG welding certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with collaborative robots or automated welding systems.
  • Experience in electric motor or rotating equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of welding processes repair techniques and basic inspection methods.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and quality.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to identify process abnormalities and recommend corrective actions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work around industrial equipment.

Performance Measures

  • Safety compliance and incident prevention.
  • Weld quality and first-pass yield.
  • Productivity and throughput performance.
  • Equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Accurate and timely completion of required documentation and completion.
