Unit Notes
Required Certifications (i.e. BLS ACLS) -BLS ACLS NIHSS EKG interpretation class
Common diagnoses/Types of patients- Cardiac CHF CP Pneumonia Respiratory Sepis
Experience or Must have skills- 6N-Must have 2 years of experience in CCU or high end stepdown unit. Prefer 2 years of experience in telemetry. First time travelers okay.
Are RNs required to titrate drips- Yes
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Does the charge nurse take an assignment- Charge Nurse- typically doesnt take a patient load
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios Patient Care Techs- typically 1-2 per shift depending on census
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling Block scheduling)- 12 hour shifts:. No block scheduling. Modified self scheduling will be granted depending on unit staffing needs
Weekend Requirements-Every other weekend
Holiday Requirements- 1 major 1 minor
Is there call or a standby requirement- No
Floating Requirements- All tele nurses other than 6N nurses will float to MedSurg or Rehab. 6N nurses will only float to ICU/CCU. Travelers first to float.
Scrub Color/Dress code- Navy
Unit/Department specific orientation- 3 shifts
