Sign-On Bonus: $10000 with a two-year commitment
Job Overview
A leading healthcare organization is seeking an experienced RN - OR Supervisor to provide clinical and operational leadership within a high-volume surgical services department in Rockford Illinois.
The department includes 15 operating rooms and performs approximately 2545 surgical cases per day across a wide range of specialties. The RN Supervisor will help coordinate daily OR operations support nursing staff manage workflow and staffing needs and maintain high standards for patient safety and perioperative care.
The ideal candidate will have a BSN extensive Operating Room nursing experience and previous Charge RN experience in a complex surgical environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and operational supervision for daily Operating Room activities
- Coordinate staff assignments based on surgical schedule case complexity acuity and staffing resources
- Serve as a clinical resource for OR nurses surgical technologists and other perioperative team members
- Support Charge RN functions and help maintain efficient workflow across 15 operating rooms
- Assist with management of scheduled urgent and emergent surgical cases
- Collaborate closely with surgeons anesthesia providers nursing leadership and ancillary departments
- Monitor surgical schedules and adjust staffing and resources as department needs change
- Support patient flow throughout preoperative intraoperative and postoperative phases
- Ensure adherence to sterile technique infection-prevention practices and perioperative safety standards
- Provide guidance and support during complex surgical procedures
- Assist with staff orientation education competency development and performance improvement
- Coach and mentor nursing staff and emerging clinical leaders
- Promote accountability teamwork professionalism and effective communication
- Identify workflow or operational issues and help implement appropriate solutions
- Participate in quality-improvement and patient-safety initiatives
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and applicable regulatory requirements
- Respond appropriately to staffing shortages surgical emergencies and rapidly changing department needs
- Maintain clinical competency across multiple surgical specialties
- Perform additional supervisory and perioperative responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
- Minimum of three to five years of Operating Room nursing experience
- At least two to three years of progressively responsible OR experience
- Minimum of one year of Charge RN experience
- Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practices and surgical workflows
- Ability to support a broad range of surgical specialties and case types
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple operating rooms and competing priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership organization and conflict-resolution abilities
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced high-acuity surgical environment
Preferred
- Previous Operating Room supervisory experience
- Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience
- Experience in a large high-volume surgical department
- Experience with complex orthopedic spine neuro or cardiothoracic procedures
- Robotic surgery experience
- Previous experience training mentoring or evaluating perioperative staff
- CNOR certification
