Unit MedSurg Oncology
# of beds 28 beds
Ratios 1:4-5
Required certifications BLS required Chemo certification through ONS provider card preferred.
Common diagnoses/Types of patients Oncology and general med surg combination. Hospice inpatient program also housed here. Full telemetry reading and interpereting is a must
Experience or Must have skills Oncology experience is a must. will need to pass a dysrthymia exam during onboarding.
Are RNs required to titrate drips Heparin Cardizem may see other cardiac drips.
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Charge nurse on each shift. Typically do not take patients.
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios CNAs are 8 hour shifts. Unit is set up like a 4 leaf clover each pod has a CNA. At night 2 CNAs for 28 beds.
Is there tele on this unit Monitor Techs RNs read strips central monitoring unit
Shifts & Scheduling 07-1930
Weekend Requirement Every other weekend Nights: Friday Saturday Days: Saturday Sunday
Holiday Requirement Rotate with perm staff.
