WellTech Partners is partnering with a high-performing Ambulatory Surgery Center in Houston TX to hire an experienced and clinically strong Clinical Manager Operating Room (OR Manager). This leadership opportunity is designed for an experienced perioperative RN leader who thrives in fast-paced surgical environments leads with accountability and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while driving operational excellence.
This is not a task-only administrative role. The ideal candidate is a hands-on clinical leader who can oversee daily OR operations support multidisciplinary surgical teams manage staff performance ensure regulatory compliance and maintain the highest standards of patient safety and perioperative care.
Position Overview
As the Clinical Manager Operating Room you will oversee all aspects of perioperative nursing care delivery within the Operating Room. This role is responsible for surgical services operations staff leadership clinical quality patient safety workflow efficiency and regulatory compliance.
The OR Manager serves as a key clinical leader within the facility and may assume responsibilities of the Director of Nursing (DON) when needed. This individual must be highly organized clinically proficient operationally minded and capable of making sound decisions independently in a fast-paced surgical setting.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN licensure
Minimum 4 years of multi-specialty Operating Room circulating experience
Minimum 2 years of clinical leadership or OR management experience
Strong understanding of perioperative nursing standards and surgical workflows
Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
Current ACLS certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
PALS certification required if applicable to facility requirements
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced surgical environment
Preferred:
Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) experience
Experience managing surgical services in hospital or outpatient surgery settings
Familiarity with AORN standards Joint Commission CMS and AAAHC regulations
Strong operational staffing and quality improvement experience
Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
Oversee daily Operating Room operations surgical workflow staffing assignments and case scheduling
Supervise OR clinical staff to ensure safe efficient and high-quality patient care
Assign staff based on competency patient acuity and surgical case complexity
Coordinate surgical schedules and communication between surgeons anesthesia providers and clinical departments
Ensure OR readiness including equipment instrumentation supplies and staffing coverage
Maintain compliance with AORN standards infection prevention protocols and facility policies
Support operational efficiency room turnover optimization and case flow management
Participate in leadership meetings quality initiatives and operational planning
Clinical Quality & Patient Safety
Ensure safe evidence-based perioperative patient care across all surgical services
Monitor adherence to sterile technique infection prevention surgical time-outs and safety protocols
Lead intraoperative emergency response coordination and clinical escalation when needed
Review incident reports variances patient outcomes and clinical data to identify improvement opportunities
Support and lead Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and performance metrics
Maintain compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards including CMS Joint Commission and AAAHC guidelines as applicable
Ensure accurate clinical documentation and patient record compliance
Foster a culture of accountability patient safety teamwork and continuous improvement
Team Leadership & Staff Development
Provide leadership coaching mentoring and performance oversight to OR staff
Conduct staff evaluations and competency assessments
Support onboarding education and ongoing clinical development initiatives
Promote professionalism teamwork accountability and service excellence throughout the department
Collaborate with leadership to improve staff engagement retention and operational performance
