Unit: L&D Postpartum
# beds: 10 beds
Certs: BLS NRP advanced fetal monitoring NCC certified inpatient OB (RNC-OB) ADV FHM
Ratios: L&D is usually 1 to 1-2 follow AWHONN guidelines postpartum is 1 to 4 couplet care
EMR: Cerner Fetal heart monitor is fetal link
Charge Nurse: yes they will take a pt assignment
Nurse Aides: no
Weekend Requirement: every other
Holidays: work into perm staff rotation
Scrub Color: navy
Vents: no
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: no neonatologist hospitalist has to be available 24/7 4 OB/GYNs and 2 midwives
IV Team: no
RT 24/7: yes
Pharmacy 24/7: no only in house for 10 hours of the day
Shifts: 12 hrs 7-7 self scheduling to some degree manager has to balance out and make sure shifts are covered schedules are made out 30-45 days in advance they can take call if they want
Floating: float to medsurg or CCU rarely & only if desired. Will have to work both L&D & PP on unit
