Job Summary

Compensation: As set by the North Providence School CommitteeReports To: Superintendent of Schools and/or DesigneeEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Confer regularly with the Superintendent of Schools Principals and/or their designee(s) regarding matters related to student residency attendance and welfare.
  2. Conduct objective field investigations home visits address checks and background research to verify student residency compliance.
  3. Investigate tips referrals and cases of non-attendance to verify the authenticity of absence excuses and address potential educational neglect or truancy.
  4. Promptly analyze and verify documentation (such as utility bills lease agreements tax records and court filings) to detect and resolve fraudulent enrollment attempts.
  5. Maintain comprehensive case files detailed investigative logs and an updated database of referrals demographic information and case dispositions.
  6. Provide clear objective testimony regarding investigative procedures and findings at administrative hearings compliance reviews and legal proceedings in accordance with RIDE guidelines and Rhode Island state law.
  7. Serve as a primary liaison between the District schools families and the North Providence Police Department to communicate attendance and residency policies and legal requirements.
  8. Educate families and the community on district residency policies registration standards and legal consequences of providing false documentation.
  9. Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with FERPA district policies and legal requirements.
  10. Assume other generally related responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and/or their designee(s).

Frequently driving is required to meet the demands of this position requires the employee to work irregular or extended hours. Frequently the employee must meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with state agencies school districts coworkers students and other community members.
