Job Summary

Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a highly organized Research Operations Coordinator to support the day-to-day research operations of investigators in the Center for Integrated Solutions for Infectious Disease. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys making research run well: coordinating people and processes keeping operational details organized solving practical problems and ensuring that follow-up does not get lost.

Working closely with faculty senior scientists and an internal operations leader the coordinator will manage multiple recurring and project-based activities across laboratory operations. The role combines project coordination documentation purchasing and inventory support equipment and vendor follow-up onboarding and communication across scientific and institutional teams.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and an Associates degree in a related field of study.

  • Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree No

  • 35 years of project support or administrative experience.

  • Ability to prioritize delegate and manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills including strong presentation skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team including on tight deadlines.

  • Basic financial/accounting skills.

  • Knowledge of basic business administrative principles and project management best practices.

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word Excel and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of file management and other administrative procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in biology microbiology immunology molecular biology or a related scientific discipline.

  • Hands-on laboratory research experience and familiarity with the day-to-day operations of an academic or biomedical research laboratory.

  • Experience with laboratory equipment purchasing inventory onboarding safety or vendor coordination.

  • Strong organizational communication follow-through and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and recognize when an issue should be escalated.

  • Interest in documentation process improvement and appropriate use of approved AI-enabled productivity tools.
