What You Will Do

The Aerodynamics & Acoustics Discipline at RTX Technology Research Center is seeking candidates with expertise in computational and/or experimental aeroacoustics or hydroacoustics. We invite applications for a Research Engineer to join our integrated team of engineers and technicians dedicated to advancing innovative technologies for aerospace and defense this role the successful candidate will collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to perform technology product and program research using stateoftheart R&D principles methods and tools. They will develop pioneering solutions to both fundamental and applied research challenges demonstrate creativity in delivering advanced technologies and communicate results effectively through written reports and presentations. The position also includes contributing to research proposal development for RTX business units and government agencies.

A successful candidate will have technical expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Highfidelity modeling and simulation of aeroacoustic mechanisms including sound generation and propagation in aerospace and naval systems.
• Experimental methods for noise measurement and characterization of unsteady flow and acoustic phenomena.
• Analysis of sound generation and transmission in air or water vehicles propulsion systems airmanagement systems and related components.
• Development and evaluation of noisereduction concepts including acoustic liners.
• Wave phenomena in fluids and solids including acoustic metamaterials.
• Application of ultrasoundbased measurement and inspection techniques.
• Use of advanced sensing concepts and signalprocessing techniques.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• An advanced degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent military education and experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in fundamental principles of fluid dynamics and acoustics including acoustic analogies and unsteady fluid flow phenomena.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the application of computational and/or experimental skills towards the development of new technologies.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• A PhD in Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering or closely related field and 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent military education and experience.
• Adaptability and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent communication skills informal and formal presentation skills and ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners.
• Ability to manage uncertain requirements develop approaches to solve problems and recognize when additional subject matter expertise is needed.

The salary range for this role is 107500 USD - 204500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
