Job Description Summary
Seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join a federally funded longitudinal clinical research project examining emotion and stress factors that influence asthma management and health outcomes among adolescents with asthma. We work with both English and Spanish speaking families so the ideal candidate is fluent in both languages. Responsibilities include but are not limited to reviewing electronic medical records to screen patients for eligibility participant recruitment obtaining informed consent coordinating participant interviews conducting participant interviews sending participants electronic inhaler monitoring devices setting up inhaler devices with participants maintaining participant tracking databases and recruitment logs and data management and cleaning. Because we work around participant availability hours may shift day to day and include evenings and/or weekends; flexibility is essential. Ideal for an individual planning to pursue graduate or professional school who wants hands-on experience assisting with a rigorous longitudinal clinical study. The successful candidate will work directly with the PI receive structured mentorship and build a record of experience directly relevant to graduate applications.
Responsibilities
Recruit participants Conduct participant assessments (surveys structured interviews) in accordance with study protocols Manage participant flow from recruitment through study completion including scheduling tracking and follow-up and proactively communicating progress and obstacles to the PI Assist with data management data cleaning quality checks and preparation of study materials Set up electronic inhaler monitoring devices and troubleshoot when needed. Assist with institutional Review Board ( IRB ) communication and compliance Participate in regular team meetings included structured one-on-ones with the PI Mentor undergraduate research assistants and support their training in research procedures
Required Qualifications
12 years of prior research experience including knowledge of research methods and terminology Experience with research data collection and data entry Analytical skills including the ability to define problems through research and fact finding Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to work collaboratively as a supportive member of an interdisciplinary research team Ability to work independently and manage research tasks with minimal supervision
