The Research Assistant position will assist with conducting research and other initiatives for the Center for Environmental & Energy Sustainability (CEES). This position that will perform skilled administrative and managerial support in research. Plans and direct certain phases in a research project.

This position is grant-funded. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant-funding.

The salary isdeterminedin accordance withthe Universitys compensation structure and will becommensuratewith the candidates education and experience within the assigned salary range for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in designing planning and coordinating experiments in support of research projects related to one or more of the following: membrane processes (ceramic membranes forward and reverse osmosis air gap membrane distillation etc.): carbon capture-related research life cycle assessment transportation materials and infrastructure.
  • Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis statistical analysis and technical evaluation of research experiments and results.
  • Assists undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory technical or field staff involved in research.
  • Increase centers research productivity by developing and submitting new proposals for funding and publishing high quality journal articles and grant reports.
  • Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research well organized capable of multi-tasking and has excellent documentation skills.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field.
  • No prior experience required.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
  • Ability to use existing resources and learning to accomplish or surpass intended results for current and future goals/needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters of Science in Engineering Chemistry or related fields.
