Job Summary

Primary Responsibilities
The Research Analyst will support institutional research and data analytics functions critical to compliance strategic planning and student success initiatives. This role involves the application of statistical and computational methods to collect analyze and interpret institutional data and to develop data-driven insights for decision-making. Duties: Data Collection & Validation: Gather clean and validate data from internal systems (e.g. student information systems HR databases) and external sources (e.g. THECB IPEDS ). Apply statistical tests to ensure data integrity. Statistical Analysis & Modeling: Use statistical software (e.g. SPSS R Python) to perform regression analysis forecasting and trend analysis. Develop models to support institutional planning and performance evaluation. Report Development: Prepare detailed reports and dashboards using BI tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau Argos). Translate complex data into actionable insights for university leadership. Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal and state reporting requirements. Coordinate submissions to THECB IPEDS and other agencies. Maintain documentation of data definitions and reporting standards. Collaboration & Consultation: Work with academic and administrative units to understand data needs define metrics and support strategic initiatives. Professional Development & Research: Stay current with best practices in institutional research data science and higher education analytics. Other Duties as Assigned: Support ad hoc data requests assist with survey design and analysis and contribute to institutional effectiveness projects. Work Schedule: 40hr/wk Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00p.m. May telecommute from any location in the United States. Reports to Sul Ross State University in Alpine TX. Security Sensitive: This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215 and Texas Government Code 411.094 which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
