Pay Range: $34.00 - $45.00/hour

AVSG/VSSOC is growing and we are excited to add a Veterinary Technician Supervisor to support our Surgery Emergency/Critical Care and Internal Medicine departments. This position offers the opportunity to lead a team of talented technicians and assistants while partnering with Board-Certified Specialists Emergency Veterinarians and hospital leadership to deliver exceptional patient care and an outstanding employee experience.

This role is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys mentoring others building strong teams solving operational challenges and leading by example on the hospital floor. As a Veterinary Technician Supervisor you will oversee a team of approximately 10-15 direct reports support daily hospital operations and help ensure our patients clients and teams receive the highest level of care and support.

Position Summary

The Veterinary Technician Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and development of clinical team members within assigned departments. This position partners closely with the Hospital Manager and department Veterinarians to promote exceptional patient care operational efficiency employee engagement and a positive hospital culture.

The Supervisor reports directly to the Hospital Manager and serves as a key leadership resource for technicians and assistants working in Surgery ER/CCU and Internal Medicine.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Supervise and support a team of approximately 10-15 direct reports
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and employee check-ins
  • Complete performance reviews and coaching conversations
  • Mentor technicians and assistants to support professional growth
  • Provide ongoing feedback recognition and accountability
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new team members
  • Foster a positive collaborative and team-oriented work environment
Staffing & Operational Support
  • Assist with staff scheduling and shift coverage
  • Review and approve PTO and sick time requests
  • Review and approve employee timecards
  • Collaborate with leadership to address staffing needs
  • Support workflow management and operational efficiency
  • Participate in departmental and leadership meetings
Clinical Support
  • Lead by example through active clinical participation as needed
  • Assist with complex patient care and case management
  • Support quality patient care standards and workflow consistency
  • Partner with veterinarians and specialists to optimize patient outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies safety standards and best practices
Clinical Skillset

Candidates should be comfortable performing and coaching others in:

  • Venipuncture catheter placement and sample collection
  • Diagnostic imaging assistance and ultrasound support
  • Anesthesia monitoring and patient assessment
  • Medication calculations and administration (IV IM SQ CRI)
  • Fluid therapy setup and maintenance
  • Surgical preparation and sterile technique
  • Advanced patient monitoring and nursing care
  • Emergency and critical care procedures
  • Hospitalized patient treatments and documentation
  • Client communication and patient updates
What Youll Bring
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT LVT or CVT) credential required
  • Minimum of 3 years of veterinary technical experience
  • Specialty Emergency Critical Care or Surgical experience strongly preferred
  • Previous leadership supervisory training or mentoring experience preferred
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Ability to lead with professionalism empathy and accountability

Base Pay

$34 - $45 USD
