POSITION PORPOSE

  • The position supports the Trinity Health Ann Arbor (THAA) Surgical and Neuroscience ICU (2 North) a 20-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma hospital.

  • Patients admitted to the SNICU require intensive care monitoring including those patients with hemodynamic instability compromised respiratory status and frequent neurological monitoring during the post-operative period of hospitalization. The population of patients includes cardiothoracic surgery trauma vascular and general surgeries. Additionally the SNICU treats a wide range of serious neurological conditions including both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The SNICU has expanded its neuroscience capabilities by acquiring a biplane and thrombectomy certification.

  • This position is a Full-Time scheduled 36 hour per week rotating shift: Six weeks on days (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) rotating with six weeks on nights (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) with every other weekend and every other holiday rotation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Under limited supervision the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients including developing evaluating and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise.

  • RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.

  • The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame.

  • The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self the nursing process the environment/technology and other healthcare team members according to established standards.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Michigan Nursing License

  • Graduation from accredited nursing program (Effective January 1 2013 all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire.)
