This is a MedSurg floor assignment; however travelers will be required to have MS/Tele experience for floating purposes. The Surgical Specialty unit is a 30 non-cardiac monitor bed unit that specializes in Vascular and Urology patient populations. The unit also receives an overflow of patients from General Surgery Womens Specialty and Medicine. The average length of stay for patients is one to two days. Patients are received from the PACU transfers from ICU and the ED area. Nurse ratio is 1:5 on both day and night shift and both shifts have three support staff working under the direction of the RN.

• Care for 56 med-surgical patients non-monitor with a length of stay of 12 days
• Perform dressing changes and provide care for patients with wound vacs and drains
• Float to other units and/or campuses per request due to census concerns staff will only float to units they are qualified for and perform tasks for which competencies have already been demonstrated and documented
• Provide weekend coverage every other weekend though frequency may vary based on need

• MS/Tele experience required for floating purposes
• Urology and Vascular experience required
• Epic experience required at least one year
• Ability to pass an EKG exam with prestart modules

• Active SC RN license required
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required

• Floating is required if needed
• Weekend coverage is required every other weekend but may vary based on need
• Night shift: 3x12s 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
• Flu vaccine required no exemptions

• Travelers must be able to pass an EKG exam with their prestart modules prior to assignment start
• Per the floating policy for contracted staff the facilitys goal is to keep staff in their home unit; however it is a requirement for all assignments that agency staff regardless of unit or facility must float to other units and/or campuses per request due to census concerns. Staff will only be floating to units they are qualified for and performing tasks for which competencies have already been demonstrated and documented.
