SUMMARY
Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients in the Main or Satellite Clinic settings by performing the following duties as well as any other duties assigned within the scope of practice of a registered nurse:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation and ensure patient understanding.
Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards policies procedures and protocol.
Prepares rooms sterile instruments equipment and supplies for minor surgical or other procedures.
Keeps all work areas and treatment areas clean and neat.
Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
Triages patients as appropriate and encourages health promotion and wellness concepts.
Takes and records patients vital signs dresses wounds and alcohol rubs.
Applies compresses and ice bags.
Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge.
Administers specified medication orally or by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection and notes time and amount on patients charts.
Administers immunizations as ordered and indicated.
Interprets physicians instructions to patients.
Keeps records of vital statistics and other pertinent data of patients.
Makes sure 02 tank is full at all times nebulizer machine is available and working.
Prepares forms and requisition for tests to be performed.
Makes sure exam rooms are ready to receive next patient.
Assists patients and providers as needed.
Informs patients of disease processes and life time management.
Inventories monitors and requisitions supplies. Ensures all treatment rooms emergency carts and offices are appropriately stocked.
Completes monitors and follows up on referrals for any assigned physician/provider or as instructed by Director of Nursing.
Works with the WIC Program to assure a smooth operation of the department in the absence of the WIC Coordinator. Ensures that all certifications are appropriate and in compliance with the State of Mississippi rules and regulations as it applies to the WIC Program.
Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing or Physician/Provider at all times.
Annual evaluation will be conducted by the Supervisor with weight value of 65% from a Physician/Nurse Practitioner and 35% based on overall teamwork with nurses staff etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; six months to one year of experience practicing as a registered nurse.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend facility policies procedure instructions simple instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information as well as provide education in one-on-one and small group situations to customers clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and carry out detailed instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid RN license in the State of Mississippi. Must have a valid Mississippi drivers license and adequate transportation.
