Job Summary

Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission values and mercy service standards.

Qualifications
Education
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate Degree Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Licensure
  • Must possess and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or hold a valid compact RN license as applicable.
  • Must meet all state Board of Nursing requirements.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or completion within 30 days of hire.

Certifications

The following certifications may be required based on the department specialty or unit assignment or must be obtained within the timeframe established by the department:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
  • Certified Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurse (CPHON)
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS)
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. Program Certification
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification (C-EFM)
  • Additional unit-specific certifications as required

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to push pull and/or lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts.
  • Ability to perform physical activities including gripping reaching bending kneeling twisting and squatting as required to perform job duties.
