Registered Nurse (Intensive Care) RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)
- Provide direct comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit managing complex medical and surgical conditions across all age groups.
- Perform continuous patient assessment and monitoring including hemodynamic monitoring ventilator management and interpretation of cardiac rhythms and laboratory values.
- Administer and titrate critical care medications including vasoactive drips sedation and paralytic agents per established protocols and physician orders.
- Manage patients on mechanical ventilation including monitoring ventilator settings arterial blood gases and weaning protocols.
- Develop implement and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians respiratory therapists pharmacists and the interdisciplinary critical care team.
- Respond to rapid deterioration and code situations initiating appropriate interventions including CPR defibrillation and emergency medication administration.
- Monitor and manage invasive lines and devices including arterial lines central venous catheters chest tubes and urinary drainage systems.
- Provide culturally sensitive care to American Indian and Alaska Native patients respecting traditional practices and community values.
- Educate patients and families on critical illness treatment plans prognosis and post-ICU transition care.
- Maintain accurate timely and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system including assessments interventions and patient responses.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives evidence-based practice implementation and adherence to infection control and patient safety standards.
Registered Nurse (Intensive Care) REQUIREMENTS
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN or BSN). BSN preferred.
- Must possess a current full and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in any U.S. state territory or the District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an Intensive Care Unit or Critical Care setting.
- Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification preferred.
- Proficiency with electronic health records hemodynamic monitoring systems and critical care equipment.
- Strong clinical assessment critical thinking and communication skills with the ability to function effectively in high-acuity situations.
